The element of surprise

Never though of it that way. I was mostly thinking of it in avatar terms, where moving the earth was fast and didn't really disturb anyone because it went back to the same way it was before. Flying with air was only able to be performed with that glider though.

Well, according to the ancient Celtic/Druid worldview, the four seasons were tied to the four elements:

Spring - Earth
Summer - Fire
Autumn - Wind
Winter - Water


And that makes a lot of sense, because I've always liked the wind a lot, and Autumn is my favorite time of year. It also happens that I was born in Autumn, which also makes sense to their world view, as you are tied to the element you were born under, etc. etc. I'm not a huge fan of SUPER windy days, that can get rather annoying. But few things are better, to me, than a nice slightly cloudy day, with no rain, but a nice breeze going on.

And seeing as so many others in here keep making references to Avatar, yeah, I would totally want to be an Airbender as well. Bending any of the other elements could be really cool, but how fucking awesome would it be, being able to bend the very air to your will? Fly around, force blast people in the face, etc. It could be good times indeed.

When most people think of "the elements", they think of the four classical elements that have been around in the human consciouness since probably before recorded history. They do not automatically think of the scientific periodic table of elements. That is more of a modern, and certainly more nerdy phenominon. The table is cool, don't get me wrong. But most people know/think of the classical elements.

My favourite element is Aether.
