I would have my body thrown out into the middle of the ocean, give back my body to the place where life started. But I think that may not be possible legally, as my remains could well end up on the shore of some country, and that might not go so well. I wouldn't like the idea of cremation, because most of my body would simply be lost as heat, not really helping the environment when all the nutrients in my body are burned into ashes. I want to be picked at, gnawed on, chewed up, etc. Basically I want my body turned into animal tissue and poop. What about you? Feel free to share what you want to happen to your body when you die. I won't criticize you, unless you want me to. |
Actually, being buried doesn't really steal resources. Unless you're in an air-tight coffin, your corpse will become a home for insects and bacteria to thrive. But even if the coffin is air-tight, it's not going to last an eternity. Eventually, even if it takes a million years, the coffin will deteriorate and your atoms will be free to roam the Earth and do stuff.
In any case, even if you are in a impenetrable coffin (which is impossible), you still aren't taking anything. Your body is merely a particular system of arrangement of atoms from the universe. You aren't taking any atoms from the universe; you just arrange them in a particular system. No, scartch that...you aren't even arranging any atoms; rather, the atoms arrange themselves in a system that is "you". You are the result of movements by the atoms, rather than the other way around. And after you die, those same atoms will exist to do whatever it is they do. Explain how this is selfish?

I want to be frozen. Within the next 100-200 years if we don't have a set back, they will be able to bring me back. I hope. ...
I want to be burned until there is just ash left. The CO2 during the burning process has to be filled in a flask under high pressure. All of the ash shall be pressed into a diamond. The diamond shall be engraved with the code of my DNA. And later plated with a thick layer of gold. Then I want the Diamond to be put into a gold capsule. The capsule and the flask with my CO2 has to be shot into space on board of a space probe destined to leave our solar system.
Not only do I remove all of my atoms from this planet so that it will never be used for anything the world needs. I will also use up alot of energy and pollute the environment alot doing this with the chance of being reawakened by an alien species and live a second life (atleast my biological twin could) and maybe the information the aliens gathered about my twin will lead to the destruction of this planet,
I guess thats the most selfish way to die ever.
donate all my parts and organs, cant understand why you would want to be cremated, may aswell give your organs to someone who needs them instead of just burning them

i fully agree with the OP. an embalmed burial seems selfish and disgusting. i don't want to be turned into a chemical soup to preserve my likeness like some sort of unnatural doll in a horror film. gross. then to take up land in this resource limited planet. fuck that shit. i'm not christian and i think it sucks that christian ideals have limited the options of how i can treated in death. |
I want to hear the story behind this.
I would like to be buried with my field of work far away in the wilderness with something like a sword as a token of rememberance. If all else fails, then I'll go with Viking funeral.
Then I'll have my body go into a freezer while inside this:
