Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Then why is the title stated "Nintendo Totally irrelevant?"
That's why KHFan rightfully brought up the apparent ignoring of Nintendo's handheld, which has been keeping Nintendo from being "totally irrelevant" in the eyes of gamers and self-proclaimed analysts, whether they praise them, support them, hate them, and/or ridicule them.
In other words, you should have named it "Nintendo totally irrelevant in the home console market." Just saying.

Well SM3DW will give a nice boost to Wii U sales, but if you look at the upcoming big games on the Wii U almost all of them are coming out in 2014 so I expect the Wii U to really start picking up speed in 2014 with games like X, Batonetta, SSB, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Yoshi Yarn and I'm guessing Zelda U will be ready by holiday 2014. Also Nintendo has a habit of announcing games and releasing them soon after in the same year so I expect a Nintendo direct in January with some newly revealed Wii U games that will come out later on in the year, of those games I expect Miyamoto's new IP. |
There are really only two system sellers listed and that's SSB and Mario Kart. Do you honestly think casual gamers are going to upgrade from their wii just to play those if there are already on Wii? I'm not sure but I don't think they can justify spening 300 bucks to play Mario Kart if they can already play it with a more familiar controller. I highly doubt Zelda will be coming next year but that'd be cool if it did.
Well, people should know whatever Nintendo does next that disrupts the industry in a dramatic way it was their own fault if they don't like it

With the PS4 skyrocketing the charts and Xbox one about to do the same we can expect Wii U sales to stagnate this holiday season. PS4 will sell as many consoles as it ships; it already sold more consoles in 2013 than Wii U in North America. It is poised to do the same in Europe as well. According to Microsoft and respectable regional retailers on this site the Xbox One will have similar opening day sales of that of the PS4. Similarly, Microsoft will sell every console they ship this year. Xbox one and PS4 will both outsell the Wii U Q1 2014 despite Nintendo having a year head start. Do Microsoft and Sony control this industry? I expect lifetime sales of PS4 to be around ~120 Million and lifetime Xbox sales of ~90 Million. I expect the Wii U to place 3rd with about 20 million console sales. I expect Xbox one to do extremely well in the United States and Western Europe. I think Microsoft will do solid in other parts of the world once it gets a price cut. I expect PS4 to do great in every region but not beating the Xbox One in the United States.
What do you guys think? |
People have been predicting Nintendo's doom since the 3DO came out. In the end, the people who predict it look rather foolish. Remember, Nintendo is sitting on a small mountain of cash and is making a ton of money on the 3DS right now. Will they have the sales they'd like with the Wii U, most likely not. Will they be just fine for the foreseeable future, most likely. The one I worry more about at this point is Sony. Even with their heyday of PS1 and PS2, from 1995 - 2010 they only managed to make about $1.2 Billion in profit from their video game division. During the same time frame, Nintendo profited about $25.4 Billion.
Only a fool would count Nintendo out at this point.
Stop hating and start playing.
The Wii U had a number of problems this year. Lack of software and lack of promotion. Nintendo are dealing with both. Microsoft and Sony however are good on the promotional front but they will have the same problem with software next year and I can see this affecting their sales just like it affected the Wii Us sales. As for your comment on the sales of the Wii U declining each week. They are currently double what they were around 1 month ago and as more software is released that will only increase.

So you think that any of the new consoles will out-sell their current generation? I dont see this happening in the same time-fram. Now about the WiiU i think it will pick it up next year, you can see and FEEL that Nintendo is putting all the efforts on the 3DS this year, next year will be the year of WiiU, look at how many 3DS games where released from Nintendo this year, and look how many is coming next year, now... do the same with the WiiU you can do the math on how many game Nintendo can out-put on a year-by-year base and check by the number next year the YEAR of the WiiU. Hope to see a similiar move in the market like the one 3DS gor this year.
