i guess the interns forgot to put the secret sauce in the wii u also?

also what does field of study got to do with assembling electronics? most factory works probably don't even have a higher education hence why they don't protest working for small money.

also if this is true Sony is responsible for it. It is their product, they should make sure conditions are reasonable to ensure their products are made correctly instead of trun a blind eye to save a few dollars.

NO. Foxcon is responsible for it. If it's true. And foxcon will have to pay sony for every damage systems not to mention any thing else that might be in the contract that sony could nail them for.

If this is ture than Sony would be liable to sue Foxconn and make $$$

perhaps but remember the rest of the world doesn't sue everyone like they do in america. This would be done in a Chinese court and who knows what bias the chinese would show their own company. It would essentially be a lost cause.

No Sony is responsible, it is their brand image under risk here not foxcon. If you want to protect your brand image you ensure all your contractors you higher are work for you not against you.

These interns should be lined up and shot

Leave Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson out of this!

Have you seen a Vince Vaughn/Owen Wilson movie recently? Getting lined up and shot is too nice of a punishment

You really don’t understand how manufacturing works. Sony brand name, yes. Foxcon will be held financially responsible.

Isn't this the company that had kids doing jobs for them? If that's the case I can believe this.

Even if this wasn't purposely done, as in the Foxconn worker just messed up and broke a thousand ps4's, Sony would still have a case. That's how the law works. And that isn't even what happened here- this guy admitted to doing this on purpose to damage Sony and Foxconn. He (and the other Foxconn workers who participated) had malicious intent to purposely ruin a product Foxconn had hired him to make. If there is a failure because of how the thing was put together - it's on Foxconn.

I do understand how manufacturing works but do you think the general pulic is gonna give a shit about foxconn fucking up? No the damage caused will directly impact Sony. Therefore if you don't want to damage your brand name you ensure everything is fine rather than rely on the manufacturer.

According to a snapshot of a deleted forum post, the interns at a Foxconn manufacturing plant in Yantai, China have sabotaged the PS4. This was first reported on the IGN forums here. Unfortunately, the forum was locked.  The IGN forum author tried to elaborate more here. Here is a snapshot of the actual post:

This manufacturing plant has made world news for its mistreatment of the staff, and Polygon did a story on it over a month ago. The intern notes that because Foxconn didn’t treat them well, they didn’t treat the PS4 well. He/she says “The ps4 console we assemble can be turned on at best.” This could explain some of the “blue light” problems. These PlayStations can turn on, but do not actually display a picture. This issue was reported on here. There is no physical evidence to indicate that the sabotage actually occured or is in any way linked to problems with a very small percentage of PS4s, but it is worth keeping an eye on.

Hey guys, a translation (via my wife), sounds like total nonsense.

"This is a high end product that Sony and MS came up with, with the intention to defeat Apple.  Unfortunately the silly Japanese people gave it to Foxconn, and Foxconn gave this to us poor interns from the Northern Information Technology University, they were wrong, they were truly wrong.  Foxconn didn't treat us like humans, we in return didn't treat it (PS4) as a high-end product. We gave in no particular attention, our highest expectation is for it to turn on properly, haha! When the PS4 launches on the 9/9/2013 it will be the day Foxconn and Sony suffer the consequences, losing money and closing down.  Let us pray for it."
