PS3 owners who own a fat and slim version have the most energy efficient consoles of last gen.

You might be saying, "What?  The fat PS3 costs almost twice to run as the slim, and the Wii costs next to nothing per year."  You'd be correct, but take it from me, having two PS3s, fat and slim are more energy efficient than even the Wii.

Most of the time, unless you want to play backwards compatible titles, you'll be using the slim one, keeping costs lower, not as low as the Wii, just lower, but we're getting in those winter months right now, and that's when you want to pull out that big behemoth of a space heater.

The fat PS3 does what no other console does.  It heats up your home while you're playing games, watching Netflix, etc.  It might cost more to run per year than the Wii, but does it cost even close to that of your Wii and your heater at the same time?

So PS3 atleast is first place in one spot this gen.  Saving you money.

Features of each console.

360 - Home entertainment, games.

Wii - Games.

PS3 - Home entertainment, games, space heater.

I own both and it's totally true! At winter we all sit around the PS3 like a chimney and spend some quality time. I totally agree.

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

Does anyone else find it ironic that the PS3 and PS4 are the most powerful consoles of their respective generations yet use the smallest power cables?

My PS3 fat is even more energy efficient then the new wii fit meter. It's sitting in pieces on my shelf since 2010, consumes 0 watt per year!

When it was still working I once measured the energy consumption of my full setup while playing a game: tv + amp + subwoofer + ps3 fat, 500 to over 800 watt depending on sound.

So that's why my bedroom hits 35 Celsius in the summer...

lol really I never even noticed! xD

The PS3 may be able to do al that, but it isn't more energy efficient.

I'm fairly certain my PC+media center+Wii do not outburn the jet-fuel-needs of the PS3 combined.

He's here all week, folks! Don't forget to tip your waitress.

I would argue that the 360 is actually a more effective space heater, at least in my experience.

All I know is every time I play my PS3 the electric company sends me a love of letter that my wallet extremely hates.
