I'd rather not get either. Just go with a pure SSD.

Too expensive. I mostly want it for the 2x storage :>

Fine then just find an SSHD with the fastest read and write speeds along with the lowest access times. (Trust me on this.)

Erm.. mind giving a hand? XD

It bothers me that manufacturers don't list the R&W speeds so I can't help you there.

BTW cache has the least factor into harddrive performance but still go with the SSHD if you want.

i would wait a few months to see results from others before changing the HDD some HDDs types and brands caused issues with the PS3 for example

also you should consider just a plain 7200rpm HDD its cheaper and should also provide gains they also have 6bps data transfer and 64MB cache

those gains look laughable on ign why in so many case did the load time slow down?

But 7200rpm generates more heat :(

not really by much

this is a good thread to follow for now http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=716288

Thanks!!

1TB ain't much size improvement, I'll wait for the 2TB drives with 9.5 mm and low power requirements.

The Spinpoint M9T should arrive soon:

I've heard that its capped at 1.5, PS4 OS I mean. Not sure if its true though.

people spending more on this than the actual console...

Why would you even bother with 1TB? That's only double the size of the HDD in the PS4.

Sony really messed up with the storage, considering that all games require an install. Out of the three eight gen consoles, it looks like the Wii U with its 32GB brings the least amount of hassle to the table, because no game requires an installation. So it's perfectly possible to have a collection of 100 retail games ready to go without running out of storage. Only problem is that there probably won't be as many as 100 retail releases in the Wii U's lifetime.

Because the ordinary HDD should allow 7-10 games, now with 1TB, thats x2 => 14-20 games.

14-20 > 7-10

XD

Get the hybrid hard drive but Waite because 2 tb hard drives will be out in early 2014 with the same price of a1 tb

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

Here are some comparisons between the standard HDD and a Samsung SSD 840 Evo:
http://www.pcgameshardware.de/PlayStation-4-Konsolen-220102/Tests/SSD-in-Playstation-4-einbauen-schneller-1098588/#a3

boot time: 6 seconds faster
installing a game: 6 - 7 seconds faster
starting a game: 1 - 5 seconds faster
loading a level: 3 - 4 seconds faster

These few seconds faster loading times aren't worth several hundred bucks (IMHO).
I will get a 2TB-HDD, when they are available.
