Forums - Nintendo - What if Nintendo were to put all their cards on the table?

What if Nintendo were to pull out all the stops, and suddenly release Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. in time for the 2013 holiday season?  Would the short term sales boost be enough to catapult them into profitability, or would the ensuing drought for the beginning of 2014 be too much to bear?  SM3dW is going to be a Titan, but is it enough on its own to sustain the company (and its fans).  Purely hypothetical thread, but I would like to hear everyone sound off.

No, the 8. gen war only start when the launch fever has ended. Even if Nintendo do horribly this holiday, they'll still win by destroying PS4 and XO momentum in 2024.

I think Wii did a very good management of its 1st party games launches: Wii Sports and Wii Play in 2006 ; Mario Galaxy and Wii Fit in 2007, Wii Sports Resort, SSB Brawl and Mario Kar Wii in 2008 ; NSMB Wii in 2009 ; Mario Galaxy 2 and Wii Party in 2010 ; Zelda Skyward Sword in 2011.

To put all their cards on the table in the same year doesn't seem as wise.

Better to spread out their line up instead of releasing it all at once right when PS4/XBOX ONE come out.

Why? Which games are left? By that time the WiiU will have Mario 2D, Mario 3D, Mario Kart, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Pikmin, Wii franchises like Wii Party and Wii Fit. The other games are 3rd party, if you're refering to X and Beyonetta 2.

A new Zelda i understand, but Mario galaxy while i expect it to sell great, will already have it's fanbase on the WiiU as there will be 2 Mario games on the console by april 2014. Metroid and Star Fox are fun games, but do not sell THAT well.
