A Nintendo of America customer service representative has confirmed via email that the Nintendo 3DS version of Miiverse won’t support message exchange between friends, or even friend requests. A NeoGAF member was curious as to why the Miiverse 3DS screens released lacked the messages icon present in the Wii U version. He then decided to contact customer service to find out exactly why that was. He was told that the 3DS version of Miiverse will not support message exchanges between friends or the friend request feature. It’s basically just the community features.

.....WTF?

They're still working through the mess that surrounded SwapNote (where the thing that Nintendo was afraid of happening, happened, and that was with friend codes). No way in hell are they going to allow for friend requests on the 3DS until they figure out how to get SwapNote safely up and running again

But will we be able to post screenshots from 3DS games? Haven't seen much of this yet.

I doubt that this is the reason. Miiverse on Wii U does support this features, so why not on 3DS. I think it is some dev. reason.

Miiverse on Wii U is moderated though, swapnote on 3DS had an infamous incident happen in Japan as it's not moderated people can get away with things that lets just say affect the services image.

Ok, that sucks. I hoped this would replace swapnote, but alas. Hopefully it's something they'll it out, since it's probably a moderation problem.

So can be Miiverse on 3DS, I don't see the point.

Wow, now I hope that mobile shares thing regarding Nintendo doesn't result in them making phones.

A phone without text messaging would be terrible.
