pretty great other than the overloaded network. I'm going to bed hopefully it'll be better tomorrow and I can get a protection plan and the Plus games. KZ's first level was interesting and the jumping in and out of games is as seamless as can be. The whole UI is really slick.

Can't log into psn. The UI is indeed very slick, but without psn there's not much to it.
I didn't notice the fan at all at any point, noise level is low, less than ps3 slim. No noisy disc drive either. It does get warm behind the console after playing KZ for an hour. Not as hot as my laptop and ps3 slim though.

My friend was having connection issues too.  I'm sure it'll be fixed in no time though, no worries.

How's the controller feel?

Yeah, new console launches often have a number of problems, so it's no big deal. Overall the reaction seems to be positive, which you'd hope for really.

PSN is completely worthless on ps4 right now..... despite it working perfectly fine on the ps forums and ps3....

UI

Sony has a history of showing stuff off that never actually happens. This time around they went the complete opposite way. They showed next to nothing off about the UI, and now that I have my hands on it I am very pleased. The voice controls work flawlessly, the in game UI is fully accessible, and jumping between apps is instant. The whole UI moves without a hitch, and you can download the shit out of things. I had Knack, Killzone, COD, Battlefield, Flower, Contrast, Blacklight, Resogun, Warframe, and Madden all downloaded and ready to play in only 3 hours. They continue to download in the background once the initial app is installed.

Killzone

Single player only so far. At this point I agree with the reviews so far. It is a little stale, and some of the puzzles are more a chore than anything. The graphics are very very nice though. I have only played through chapter 3 so far, so maybe it picks up.

Knack

Much better than the reviews are saying. It is a simple game, and so far it has kept things fresh. It is only square, x and O for doing attacks, but there is plenty of skilled involved in dodging and attacking. Only about 2 hours in on this one so I will leave it at this so far.

Madden

Have not played a Madden in 4 years, but this pretty much seems like the same old thing.

The Store

Can be accessed anytime! Works much faster than the PS3, and looks exactly the same. One strange thing is, all of the preordered games have very different transaction set ups. One mentioned that I had to complete the transaction to verify my purchase from the PS3, but only made me hit ok. Another went through the whole purchase set up again with a charge of 0 dollars to my wallet. One just went straight to install. The last said it would be added to my cart at 59.99 and the just proceeded to download. Hopefully they will come to a more standard process in time.

Now back to playing.

It feels great. The two issues I had with the ds3 are completely fixed, L2, R2 are perfect now, and no more slipping off the analog sticks. The d-pad feels even better now. I keep reaching for he missing start button though. The speaker in the DS4 is surprisingly loud and clear, nothing like the crappy wii mote one.
Touch pad works but so far I've only used it in KZ, a 3rd selector, swipes to select 1 of 4 modes for the drone.

You can press down R3 in text entry and aim the cursor by tilting the controller. It's very smooth and accurate yet I find using the improved d-pad still works faster for text entry. Good news for Flower HD anyway.
