I really don't know why you guys are shunning Pachter. I think that 20 million lifetime is a very generous prediction for Wii U. VERY generous.
Nintendo had a full year to prove the Wii U was worth it. It grabbed the hardcore Nintendo fans, but now it's time for PS4 and X1 to take all the casuals.

First party games carried the Wii to 100m+ sales. Third parties didn't really help push the Wii sales that much. Everything depends on Nintendo and they have plenty of blockbusters releasing next year to make a turn around.

Yep because casuals buy 400-500 dollar systems that have no games included.
This guy probably thinks he is a god. Everything he says is quoted on every gaming site. Why continue to feed his ego? His opinions mean nothing to me.

Novelty games did like Wii Sports and the like sold the system and everything benefitted from its existence. It has an associative effect. Wii Sports, Wii fit were the trailblazers and Mariokart rode the wave of demand just like the rest did. Third party games like Just Dance faired pretty well.

Yes, they actually do. People know that they are NEW CONSOLES by the commercials. Meanwhile people think the Wii U is just a different type of Wii, which they already have and don't use.
20 million is too low, let's wait and see
in my opinion 20 million is the least possible amount for WiiU, might hit it in 2015

Here's a nice bet for people who believe it won't reach 20 million, for every Nintendo console (excluding handhelds and virtual boy) the WiiU outsells i get 3 month of victory statement in loser's sig but if it doesn't beat anything i get sig controlled for a year with whatever line you want me to write in my sig

Wii U could have had all the 2013 third party multiplats and it wouldn't have changed much.
It's up to Nintendo to output the software that sells their system, not 3rd parties.
