First party games carried the Wii to 100m+ sales.  Third parties didn't really help push the Wii sales that much.  Everything depends on Nintendo and they have plenty of blockbusters releasing next year to make a turn around.

Novelty games did like Wii Sports and the like sold the system and everything benefitted from its existence. It has an associative effect. Wii Sports, Wii fit were the trailblazers and Mariokart rode the wave of demand just like the rest did. Third party games like Just Dance faired pretty well.
