What's wrong with Famitsu? Just because they're not picky about giving out perfect scores?

They're a bit of a running joke recently.

They don't really score below a 7, reviewers get next to no time to make their judgement (and subsequently write literally maybe a paragraph or two of pretty vapid content, even by game review standards), big names get big scores etc.

That's not to say the new Mario and Final Fantasy aren't great games; they may well be, but Famitsu isn't really a good indicator sadly.

No, it is in line with the rest, they all score around the 36-40 mark.

And nobody should give a rat´s ass about Famitsu´s scores, they are a joke.

There was a big controversy around Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker´s review (40/40).

If I recall correctly, the owner of Famitsu was featured in TV-adverts for Peace Walker.

Are there actually legit Review Sites/Mags from japan besides Famitsu? I mean I was considering importing Lightning Returns from japan, but one 8, based on Famitsu standards, would literately make it the worst FF ever. So I'd really like to have some non-biased opinions before dropping full price on that game.

Huh? It got 2 10s and 2 9s. Why would that be a fail?

Surprised about FF13 lightening returns. I've heard good things so far so maybe it will exceed all of our expectations. 

I had this strange feeling that 3D Marios always got 40. Looks like I was wrong though.

So because the game is a 3D mario it automatically gets a 40? That's a weird mentality to have.
