I think it'll land at 70-75 once its finished.
It seems that the generation being new doesn't change anything within the reviewers. I think the "harsh" reviews that came late towards the PS3/360 gen is just going to continue.
Appears that design flaws for it being more open worked against Shadow Fall rather than being in its favour. That's something you don't see everyday. What a shame. Rather difficult to know that without playing the game. I think it's safe to say we won't get another Killzone for... a long time to come (if ever).
On the plus side, the graphics/framerate, sound design, soundtrack, DS4 controls, gunplay, characters and somewhat the story (minus a few poorly designed missions and a meh ending) and MP seems to all be stellar.

So its getting harsh reviews for not being linear?

It's not all black and white though.
It's being open and people don't exactly say thats bad. However numerous people feel they have to backtrack because they forgot to press a button or something and that takes away from the experience. The game doesn't seem to instruct you well enough on what you should do at all times. Sometimes they walk a bit and get into a firefight that leads them away from the place they were supposed to go to.
I could've sworn playing the game at a game convention, that up on the d-pad showed you the objective and gave you an orange dot which was telling you to basically go there. I'm not sure though, perhaps its not in the full game or reviewers maybe missed it hence the reason they walked around aimlessly at times and that must've been frustrating like some point out :(
Gamereactor for instance even said "It shows that GG are new to having a more large area"

I agree with you that the grade is worth mentionning. Basically I am trying to say that the website, despite it's success, is a very peculiar trash website. Something I know no comparison for in the anglo-saxon world. Kids are the main audience of the official website (15 years old is the core target). Older frenchmen spit on the ebsite but still love the forums as they are know to initiate political and cultural webtrends like the "noellistes". |
:noel: xp
More seriously the only reviewers are from diehardgamefans. I have no trust in any other reviewer (i don't know if you listen to radio Usul, they talked a LOT about that (metacritic scores depending highly on marketing budget etc))

Grrr. What the heck. Why is almost every game this year getting lame to mediocre reviews?
Or maybe game reviews have switched their reviewing to 5 being average instead of 7 like it's been for the past 5-10 years.
I honestly invite everyone to read the Polygon review. I don't normally mind negative reviews that much, as I put little stock in scores and realize that people have different tastes, but the reviewer, Arthur Gies, is just bad. It's obvious from the opening, where he puts Halo up on a pedestal while attempting to malign the entire Killzone franchise, that he didn't want to like Shadowfall. He nit-picks everything that can be nit-picked, whines about being shot at, whines that he's not a straight-forward hero where one side is Goodness, Unicorns, and Rainbows, and complains more than once that the game doesn't hold his hand.
He even complains about the feel of Killzone being different from other shooters then complains that it's too much like CoD. I mean, seriously ...
I don't know if Shadowfall is good or not. I haven't played it. It sounds like the kind of game I like, where the environments are open and you have to be cautious or you'll even up dead, but that's just guess-work. However, the Polygon review, for me, came across as a piece by someone who went in with the mind-set that they were not going to like the game. I probably won't be visiting their website or paying any attention to their reviews in the future.

I had a feeling this would score badly. This sucks. Other than Resogun, what game game am I supposed to play on my ps4?

Oh well, its just a review. More ammo for fanboy talk than actual enjoyment.

This is what I am hoping.
So maybe Ass Creed 4 really is an awesome game.
