Hint for 46:
Use an ability now being added for Mario & friends and defeat the wind mage in his origin story.

The Minish Cap. It's also the Four Sword origin story, and I believe that you're equating it with the Double Cherry.

Dawn of the Fifth Day - 45 Hints Remaining

45. I started a Let's Play for this game, but abandoned it shortly after starting my freshman year at college. If BazilZero doesn't get this, then I lol.

#47) Star Fox 64 (Virtual Console)

Favorite BGM: Area 6

I never really understood why this game got a remake in favor of, say, the original Star Fox. I mean, I can see why they'd do that from a commercial standpoint (it's simpler and easier to remake, and the most popular game in the series), but it's not like the gameplay in SF64 has aged badly since its original release (and I can say that without nostalgia glasses, as I first played it three years ago). All it got out of the remake was a graphical update, and nobody cares about graphics when they're killing monkeys in space with awesome, ultra-fast starfighters.

And I'm not making the reference. Not making it, not making it, not making it.

Hint for number 45.

First in the series of a not officially confirmed but cancelled 3DS game.

Easy according to Basil.  Still posting it though.

*edit*

No one guessed 46.  The person on the cover later fought for the UFC.

Best wrestling game and best Smackdown before the series went all to crap with WWE Smackdown vs Raw.  WWE 2012 is apparently when the series started getting good again.  I got 2013 and it's pretty good, but prior to that 2010 and previous titles were disappointing.

Although if you're not a Playstation fan, I will recommend anything made by Aki on the N64.  WCW vs Nwo, WCW Revenge, WWF Wrestlemania 2000, and WWF No Mercy.  Those are also really good.  If I didn't prefer Smackdown, one of those, No Mercy, would be on the list.

Clue for #45: It's not based on a movie, so it's technically not a movie game, but it is based on a movie-based IP. It's also a lot better than most movie games, though one other game from the same series is regarded as one of the greatest of all time.

Everything or Nothing?

That's right

I've never played Nightfire either, actually.

I will do my super hard hint for number 45 . This one is going to be tricky!

Oops, lol. Wrong quote.

46. Portal (PC, also on PS3 & 360)

This was pure genius. Only a few hours long with a few bonus maps, it was the very definition of 'short but sweet'. The innovative portal gun, some inventively mind bending puzzles that challenged without becomming frustrating and wonderfully dark humour throughout. I played this on my own and went through the whole thing in a single sitting. A few weeks later I spent a few hours of a gaming session with some friends going through the campaign and simply laughing at their reactions. Pure gaming genius.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PC, Xbox 360/2006) Guessed by S.Peelman and FOX

Playing through Morrowind was a revelatory experience for me, so it was only a matter of time before I tracked down its sequel on Xbox 360. While not quite as good as its predecessor, Oblivion is still a massive achievement in terms of storytelling, open-world game design, and cutting-edge graphics. As in Morrowind, it was easy to get lost in the countryside or in towns and cities, delaying the main quest to meet the colorful denizens of Cyrodiil, explore its caves and ruins, and find lost treasure and artifacts. I logged about 80 hours in Oblivion but I could easily have played for double that.
