Is it... Little Samson? (if so, that is one hell of a rare game to have) |
No, but the game is similar in price.
Okay it's a SNES game, developed by a Western Studio, Published by a Japanese studio. The Western Studio is owned by a movie company, and the Japanese Studio is fairly big now, but back then they were average sized.

Bingo, on the first guess too. Yep in NMotE you can play on Casual difficulty (which lets people who have died come back to life) and make a character in your name. I remember watching reviews which gave Awakening credit for introducing this, but it didn't. Great Fire Emblem game, sucks that it didn't localize.

I find the Djinn system to be a close relative to FFVI's Esper system, but I see where you're coming from with the Pokemon comparison. When you have all the Djinn, the game can be easily won through decent strategic planning (and patience). No late-game grind required. No early-game grind required, either, come to think of it. Beating the game with low-level characters is quite doable. Heck, if there wasn't so much text, I'd feel compelled to do all-djinn speedruns of Golden Sun. I love TLA as well (so challenging and rewarding, with an arguably better soundtrack), but I didn't love Dark Dawn. It isn't bad, but I consider it to be the weakest entry. I was probably disappointed at how easy it was compared to TLA. :/ |
Yea, I didn't have to grind either, but that's what I loved about the game. Getting all the Dijin, and just completing the story made the difficulty perfect IMO.
I''ve heard similar things about Dark Dawn, I played it for an hour, but it didn't immediately suck me in like the first 2 did. I've held off playing it ever since I predicted a 3DS XL system to be in the works, I want to play these games with a bigger screen.
