My #36 started out on Gamecube and was so critically acclaimed that it moved to pretty much every other console.

Resident Evil 4! :P

37. Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Genesis (1994)
Sonic Team

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 holds a very special place in my heart. For one thing, the game introduces the greatest game character of all time: Knuckles the Echidna! This new foe matched Sonic on every level, and laughed at him while he continued to impede the Blue Blur's progress. This game is also noteworthy to me because for years I could not beat this game. Try as I might, I would make it all the way to Carnival Night Zone and get stuck in that one barrel area. Just Google "Carnival Night Zone" and you'll get a plethora of pictures like this:

Glad to see I wasn't alone. Despite the setback, I still loved playing this game and all the great fun I had before getting to that roadblock. Fantastic music (rumors state tht Michael Jackson helped with the music), great level design (Well... yeah), new power-ups, and classic Sonic goodness made this game a winner in my book. Years later, I finally did beat Carnival Night Zone and go on to IceCap (Dat music) Zone, Launch Base Zone, and stop Robotnik from restoring the Death Egg. Mission Complete.

Hint for #36:

Aw yeah. That's the stuff.

Hint 38 -
It'll be rare if we see another entry in the franchise.

All of them are wrong, you forgot one game. And you probably know which one I'm talking about.

Just in case, it's Banjo- Kazooie

Ah, only reason I left it out was the way the hint was worded made me think of the most recent games in each series.

But you chose... wisely. *nods in approval*

37. Fire Emblem: Awakening (New!) first impression 8, replay 8, technical 7.5

Pros: Fire Emblem roars back in style with a game just oozing content, from the almost infinite possibilities of character relationships, the DLC, the innovative new partnership system, to the first-of-its-kind for the franchise postgame. The game gave us several memorable characters (and a deliciously all-grown-up Tiki), including the unique aspect of having a customizable player character whose persona was still rather fleshed out.

Cons: Much of the content outside of the story is not as polished as it could be. All but one of the paralogues have you fighting either bandits or "Risen", which begs the question of how there are so many bandit troops which can pose an actual threat to what is otherwise the most elite military unit in the world. "Pair Up" doesn't entirely make up for the loss of "Shove" or "Rescue". Still, still no damn auto-canto!

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
