Hint for 38.

Good sticky grenade inspired by Halo.

Answer is Infamous 2.  I guess it's a little difficult.  I didn't want something too easy and thought someone would be able to get good sticky grenade, only if they took the meaning of good as good and evil.

Hint for number 37.

In this reboot, everyone agrees this class is overpowered but usually gets this alternate skill when ranking up.  I happen to find the find the pistol skill more useful.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown, I presume.

If you're talking Gunslinger vs. Damn Good Ground, I'm with you on that one. I don't like having a sniper who is completely useless when on the move.

Correct.  I figured you'd get this one since it was earlier in your list.  And yeah.  For me I always get squad sight, gunslinger, battle scanner, opportunist, and double tap.  Disabling shot would work well in multiplayer, but I feel that battle scanner is better.  It makes the sniper incredibly powerful at mid to long range, or slightly weaker than a support class mid to close range.  Pistols have infinite ammo as well, so it's atleast a decent powered weapon that's usable at all times.

The other  thing is that snipers usually have better aim anyways, and you always get more accuracy when you're higher up, so damn good ground getting 10% more that's only useful in a really small amount of situations unless you're using armor.  It might work in my favorite once in awhile, but rarely.  Usually if I'm on the roof it's 100% regardless.

#38 Hint

A far cry from the genre of my #39 game, this game probably had the most realistic physics of any game involving this sport and was the quintessential next-gen game for it's time. It put the last console of a company now without hardware on the map.

Virtua Tennis?

#38 - Future Cop: LAPD (Kudos to no-one for guessing this)

I guess it is a bit of an obscure game, I'll give you all that.

Anyway, yes.  Future Cop: LAPD is a fantastic third person shooter with a decent campain; but the meat and bones of the game is arguably my favourite game mode of anything ever: precinct assault.

You start out in your base.  Your opponent starts out in their base.  You have base turrets to defend your base.  You can choose to build choppers (which defend your base) or tanks (which go out and attack the enemy's base).  Once you've spent all your points on either tanks or choppers, you have to explore the map and capture "neutral" turrents, which will fight for you until destroyed; or hunt down the enemy to kill them and gain 10 points.

Add in loads of other stuff such as upgradable weapons; neutral bases from which you can build tanks & choppers; dreadnauts and flying fortresses and a host of other stuff and you have honestly one of the best two player games I've ever played.  Surprisingly fun to play solo, too, against the AI-controller "Sky Captain", whose difficulty on level 10 took me about 3 solid weeks of trying to beat.  And it was probably the greatest achievement of my 10 year old's gaming life.

I'm really surprised the formula of this game has never really been aped since.  It sold terribly, but it was full of ideas ahead of its time and I'd really like to see someone else take a crack at it.

And to give you an idea of what I'm talking about:

Clue for my #37 - three-quel to an important (but long since forgotten) console launch title which replaced ring-outs with wall combos. Series was recently revived on the Wii with a Japanese-only title, only to fall into obscurity again.

Well, that went faster than my last clue.  Correct!

Hint for #37: These games advanced the series into the next generation

Advance Wars?

Nope. another hint the word generation is used commonly in the series as well

40. Pokemon Blue (32)

Unlike some of the games from later in the series this one isn't judged with the sense that I've been there, played that.  The creation of 150 new monsters for you to collect, train and battle with opened up a new world of wonder (and obsession).  On top of that, you were never quite sure what to expect would lie between you and your next gym encounter.  Everything in this one was new and the pace of the game was right on target for its audience.  To this day, the original pokemon are the ones I like most (it's hard to even remember the newer ones because I haven't sunk hundreds of hours into those games).

Primarily an RPG player but have interest in any game that will make me think.

39. Xenoblade Chronicles (NR)

This game was in many ways like a light in the darkness for me when it came to JRPGs in recent years. The giant number of quests to explore and the character relationship map provided a world of possibilities.  The world this game takes place in has stunningly large areas but is still easy to move around and areas are memorable enough to return to.  The combat system gives each character their own special playstyle and you could play it in so many different ways with a fresh feel.  The story is exactly the kind of fantasy plot I can really dig into and get lost in and has plenty of mysteries to discover.
