It is arguably a better product than both Xbox 360 and Wii in terms of games, services and longevity. From a business perspective Nintendo dominated and Microsoft did very well, leaving Sony a distant third. But from a customer's, PS3 is clearly the winner. Its exclusives rivalled Nintendo's, only outnumbered them. It (and X360) pretty much destroyed the Wii in thrid party support. it also had a bluray drive, fantastic graphics, offered free online gaming, and more.
"We can't compare a new born to a piece of plastic box" wh-wut?... He's saying the coming of a new product doesn't automatically kill the one that preceded it for as long as it gets demand and support. Which is precisely what's happening now with PS3. It's dominating in sales yet some people pretend it died.

I'm not saying the PS3 died, just that the generation is going to be over soon. New hardware is arriving! But, whatever! In my opinion the Wii had better exclusives but it's a matter of opinion. Sony had good exclusives but I don't think they are better than what Nintendo offered this generation.
Consumer wise they weren't better, the first years where terrible, and that is something I won't forget easily. My PS3 literally collected dust for 2 years until games I liked arrived to the console.
I liked the last years of the console when it started to have games I enjoyed, but to me they didn't win this generation in any aspect.
