The PS3 lost A LOT of money and marketshare, but is best positioned for next gen. From a distant third, SONY worked really hard to take itself to the number one spot by the time this gen is over. The Wii made a lot of money, but catered to the wrong audience, and is now dead. It also put itself in the worst position for next gen. The 360 ushered in online play for consoles, but hasn't done much else. MS took a lot of marketshare from Sony, but squandered its early lead and is now trying to limp to a 3rd place finish in sales and (distant second)profits. MS also hasn't put itself in the best position for next gen, but they have a lot of time and money to fix that if they're smart about it. |
