The Nintendo Wii U is certainly not living up to the success its predecessor. Sales are weak, support is weak, and first-party exclusives are few and far between. Despite all this, Ubisoft have continued to fully support the Nintendo Wii U by releasing a plethora of AAA games on the console. When rumors started surfacing that Ubisoft may be discontinuing their support for the Nintendo Wii U things got tense. We've reached out to Ubisoft and their comments can put Nintendo fans at ease.
Earlier last month Emily Rogers, staff writer at Dromble and Nintendo Force, tweeted to her followers that if Nintendo fans want to continue seeing Ubisoft games released on the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS that they better start buying their games. This tweet sparked controversy and caused rumors to spread about Ubisoft imminently dropping support for Nintendo.
We reached out to Ubisoft and they were happy to snuff this rumor:
“Ubisoft has a long-standing relationship with Nintendo. Most recently this has been reinforced by our varied and high-quality line-up for Wii U, with big titles including Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Just Dance 2014, Rayman Legends, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist already released and Watch Dogs on the way.”
Ubisoft are number one when it comes to supporting all gaming consoles, both home and portable systems, and the Nintendo Wii U is no exception. Ubisoft exclusively developed ZombiU specifically for the Nintendo Wii U's launch. ZombiU is an innovative Nintendo Wii U game that truly showcases the potential of the console, and, alhough ZombiU has a somewhat mixed reception, most critics agree that ZombiU is one of the few true survival horror games available on console today.
Nintendo Wii U owners can also look forward to the release of one of Ubisoft's most anticipated video-games, Watch_Dogs, which is slated for a early 2014 release. Watch_Dogs on the Wii U be an entirely unique experience on the Wii U when using the game-pad.
