Okay mr anal, in that case you are missing out the MSX and PSX, and a bunch of other small computers sony has produced.

MSX wasnt really PlayStation branded as far as I am aware.  And PSX wasn't a handheld as far as I am aware unless Im mixing it up with something else.

As for calling me Mr Anal, im not really sure if that was necessary and a really poor choice of words.

You counted home consoles and handhelds together:

"6th console*  4th home console.  PSP and PSV are consoles as well."

So lets see how accurate that is, and yes the PSX was a home console, so it counts towards the total.

PlayStation 1 / PSOne
PlayStation 2
PSX
PlayStation 3
Playstation 4
Vita TV - 6th PlayStation branded home console

Mylo
PocketStation
Playstation portable / GO
PlayStation Vita - 4th PlayStation branded handheld console (5th if you dont combine PSP and Go)

So in just the playstation brand alone, not including playstation branded phones, theres 6 home consoles 4 portables.
If you included non-playstation branded that number almost doubles.

So however you want to paint it, your correction was incorrect.

Fair enough, point is it was more than four consoles in the PlayStation family.  Though i would drop the aggressive tone in your posts and just talk about things.  Frankly im surprised you havent been banned for your first remark.

Though considering PSP GO and Vita TV as a seperate console is really pushing it.  As well as adding some of those to the PS Family.

That's only a generalization, we are all different.
The society can hardly be explained through generalizations

Is being to the point and accurate considered aggressive to you?

I suspect you are being overly sensitive.

You're looking for humility from public relations, marketing, VPs, and CEOs?

The fact of the matter is that a good majority of the 80MM PS3 owners don't even care or know about Sony executives or what they say. Millions don't spend their times on shitty game sites that spout all these rumors and gossips.

A huge majority are just normal consumers, who watch the commercials, talk about the consoles with their friends, and come to a decision.

Some people spend so much time on this forum that they lose sense of reality. People coming to these sites are a small minority. Nobody in the real world fucking cares about fanboys and shit.

So, when Sony starts making silly assertions about their superiority again, remember to look in the mirror, because they are learning it from the best.

This is wrong but is pretty funny. The idea of Sony's marketing directors sitting at their computers studying internet trolls thinking, "Yes, this is good. We must use this against Microsoft when given the opportunity" is rather hilarious.

I do feel, however, that those gamers on the outside need to understand and grasp why Sony is the way they are. We’ve often seen how passionate Sony fans can sometimes be rather cocky, but the fact is that that is the type of gamer Sony caters to the most.

This is wrong too. Well...I guess it depends on what you mean by "cater to." As someone already pointed, the vast majority of Sony fans (i.e., people who buy Sony products) don't browse internet forums or even care about passionate debates involving other manufacturers. So, the audience that Sony caters to the most is not arrogant at all; in fact, the audience is rather indifferent to the situation.

Moreover, his claim that Sony is still arrogant is pretty weak. His only evidence of this is: "they made comparisons to the competition. That's arrogant." Any reasonable person can see that this makes no sense. My opinion of the ethics of Sony isn't even that high, but I can point out faulty reasoning when I see it. Product-comparisons are a standard form of marketing in all industries, so really, his only evidence of current Sony evidence is the fact that "They used to be arrogant and maybe they still are I dunno LOL"

Also, I love this whole notion of treating a huge conglomerate like a person with a singular personality. According to Wikipedia, there's 146,300 employees at Sony. The company's also split up into a bunch of smaller subsidiaries in different industries.

It really just makes no sense to try to treat a company like a person and call it "arrogant". A person who does that ironically is just buying into another company's PR and marketing:

Watching Sony get knocked down a peg at the beginning of this past gen was oh so sweet after enduring a decade of their arrogant smugness. Going from first to third (and then crawling their way back to 2nd), and seeing previous third party exclusive after third party exclusive leave Sony land and go multiplatform (which still continues to this day) was definitely one of the highlights of the past generation for me.

You're in for a long gen then :)

That's fine with me, I prefer a long gen.  Got 8 great years (and counting) from my 360.  It's nice not to have to drop $300-$400 on a new console every 4-5 years nowadays.

I feel really bad for Wii U fans (and Nintendo fans in general) though... it's gonna be a REALLY long gen for them.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

What's typical of human behavior is that the way we perceive others could be a sign of our personal issues projected upon them. Reading the OP, at least half of the quotes could easily be just Sony giving an honest opinion. I can say that I'm one of the better employees of my department without any hint of arrogance fact or opinion. But someone could easily take it as arrogance based upon personal perception. All companies including Sony have been arrogant at some time or another. But just because Sony said some that promotes themselves or denounces the competition doesn't necessarily means that they were being arrogant. So maybe it's the fans of the competing consoles who are arrogant by projecting their attitudes and behaviors at Sony as a scapegoat because they are too full of themselves to deal with there own issues. Just saying.

I guess you could say that sony does cater to it's prideful fans but that was all over AFTER 2009 and maybe a little after the vita sunk. Now microsoft on the other hand are the ones doing it to their hardcore fans EVEN after that DRM fiasco. Sony has become humble over the years whereas microsoft went back to to been the total sore losers they were in the original xbox days. This generation is going to play out alot like the 6th one.
