Umm again, never said anything about crap...the best material cannot be judged on sucha  small sample.....you say Breaking bad, the wire is crap???? LOL. The best shows take their time and make detailed stories and characters, No one said BBN or the wire was the best tv drama ever after 1 episode..your post makes ZERO sense.

It's not just me, you don;t need me to tell you how poeople view ND and uncharted...look at the reviews, praise, and make up your own mind..I am not alone.

I actually watched 6 episodes of Breaking Bad, but I didn't like it. I played 20 minutes of Uncharted and found it to be crap. I am giving people a chance to tell me why my first impression was wrong, but no one is taking it. In fact, the best information so far has come from Xen and I don't think Uncharted is for me.

I do realize however that the game in question is not necessarily Uncharted 4, so I can expend the question to being: If I don't like games like Uncharted, Assassins Creed or The Last of Us, is there any reason for me to consider a PlayStation 4 purchase?

Cannot take you seriously.....................sorry.  BB is one of the top 2-3 dramas ever created. There are 100 + reviews, you tube videos, there is more then enough information to make up your mind. 20 minutes of a game which is just the tutorial stage is laughable at best.

Why are you even in this thread??? You're clearly an xbox fan lol. Playstation only has ND games or something? that part of your post makes no sense.................. Sounds like you're just here for an argument./

Here is the thing: I don't give a %$#$@ of what other people think of Breaking Bad or Uncharted. I care how I feel about it. That's why I watched Breaking Bad until I didn't care for it anymore, and everyone else in the world can watch it all day if they want to but I am not going to.

That is why I am asking for what elements of Uncarted makes it better than Assassins Creed. So that I can decide if I am going to buy an Xbox or  Playstation 4 or skip both. Truthfully, up until 2 days ago I didn't consider either console that seriously, but seeing how other members of my household really enjoy Assassins Creed I have started thinking there might be justification for going with two consoles this generation for the first time ever.

I am also commenting on Naughty Dog games only because that is what this thread is about: What to expect from the next Naughty Dog game. If it is Uncharted or similar again, I am less interested, but perhaps it is worth a look if it's something that I can find mildly tolerable and my kids will love.

A game has great cutscenes and story, doesn;t mean it also doesn;t have outstanding gameplay, uncharted as it all. Not sure where this all cut scene crap from, probably xbox fans, but it is a load of hogwash. A game cannot have great story and cinematics and gameplay??

Uncharted is like your best summer action movie in game form. It has a lot of outstanding gameplay. 20 minutes in your probably just seeing the opening cinematic.......the game has a lot to offer. Some of the set pieces and battles are simply amazing, and the controls, melee, stealth, platforming all are intrgrated seamlessly.

PS: You should have kept watching Breaking bad, you really missed out. I guess detailed character driven stories with amazing acting is not for everyone.Only topped by The Wire as a Tv show.

No, video games is not a matter of convincing... go play what you like and stop bickering about franchises you don't want to play... If you were really interested in any PS console you would know some of their best franchises... I would bet you have other interests here.

I owned a PS2, which was a massive letdown for me and almost killed my interest in video gaming. For that reason I skipped the PS3 out of spite, my experience with the PlayStation brand is second hand only and seemed to consists of a heavy dose of conematics and fluff. But, that could be because my exposure to the console was through others.

This generation I am somewhat considering buying two consoles, if I do I will pick up either a PS4 or an XBox One. I don't feel great about the XBOx, mainly because of Kinect, but I do feel strognly about Zoo Tycoon. I am now starting to look into what the PlayStation 4 will be about (I had initially ruled it out due to my poor experience with the PS2). But if the console is just going to be a huge mass of story driven cinematic 'epic' experiences I am not going to bother. I don't know for a fact that Uncahrted is that type of game, but it is my impression from my limited experience (and backed up by Xen). I also have the same impression of The Last of Us. If my questions about the franchises from a marquee developer on the PS4 is too much to deal with then I can only say too bad, so sad.

Your view on playstation is skewed beyond reality. The ps2 library is hardly just cinematics, it's mlibrary is unmatched in console history.....with a variety of games in every genre and type................

I have actually owned xbox, 360, ps2 and ps3, and I can say with 100% certainty, you're limited view on playstation is downright short sighted. Sure Sony has some games that are heavy on cinematics...that's a good thing, but many are not............

Funny  you say backed up by XEN, everyone else's opinion doesn't matter because it doesn't jive with yours??? That makes sense...not.

Again, there are 100 + reviews, you tube, countless media on Uncharted now and other games, if you cannot get from all that a game is for you or not, no one here is going to be able to help.

Again, you liked the PS2, I didn't. Get over it. I am looking for information on what Naughty Dog in particular has done that might make a PlayStation a consideration. The response is basically, 'check youtube'. Well, I don't care enough to check youtube. If I was that interested I wouldn't be asking anybody here. But thanks for the tip. And I don't say I am backing up anything by Xen, I just said he's the only one who has even remotely touched on the core mechanics of Uncharted. If he is right, and why would I not think so when I have the same impression and no one else has anything else to say, Uncharted is not the series that makes the PlayStation 4 a viable purchase for me.

This is the first time I have posted in the Sony forums here to my knowledge, I have to say that I am starting to see why the Sony fanbase has the reputation it has. Anyway, I guess in a weird way the thread has been at least somewhat informative. Thank you for your time.

I can't speak of UC3 or TLoU, but UC2 only speaks of the things I hate in this industry. Linearity, focus on cinematic gameplay, simple characters, simple puzzles, overuse of cover mechanics... I don't mind cinematic - when it's done beyond: two souls time. When it's done with simple characters like in Uncharted, and the focus is not on the character, it's just annoying.

So a game that is linear is automatically bad?

You must really hate Shoot'em ups. ¬_¬

And now your true colours come out.....the fanbase is the samemillions of people who are all diff, trying to say otherwise speaks volumes.......

Uncharted is 1 series.....not sur why you act like thats all PS4 has...there are Sony fans who dont like uncharted.....

There are no more cinematics in Sony gams then MS, Halo has a lot of cinemtaics,  quantum break? Alan wake??  They both have cinematic heavy games and others aren;t..

Sounds lime you're here to me to be argumentative against sony. Who said I was a sony fan?? I have a wii, 360, ps3 and PC.....I am a gamer, dont care where the games come from, you should try it sometime, you'd realise what you are msising.

The last 3 ND games speak for themselves..................uc2 was deserving of it's praise. By far the standard barrer of action adventure games of this gen.

Unlike GTA, people agree largely on UC2.

Focus was clearly on the character..Over use of cover??? 1) Your see to use cover how much you want. The game is also a perfect marriage of several genres.2) If yuo don;t like great stories to go with outstanding action, then yes maybe it's not your thing, but the game deserves it's praise. It not being your cup of tea is irrelevant. Doesn;t mean it is Overrated, your opinion is not that important.

3) Simple puzzles is subjective, I know many who didn;t find them simple at all...................

4) Whats annoying is one person thinking their opinion disregards everyone elses.

1) Don't use it? Die. I played on Hard.

2) Metal Gear Solid, DMC, InFamous... not UC

3) Can't open Drake's Journal? Have trouble recognizing shapes? Can't read ingame hints? Deary me.

4) What's annoying is having "industry" and others' opinions just about shoved down my throat. It's my opinion and I stand by it. Don't like it? Ignore it.

1) I would like to see your attitude towards using cover if you got in a gunfight in the real world.

2) I wouldn't choose any of these games over UC. I loved the original MGS (one of my top 3 games ever), but starting with the MGS2 the plot got so crazy that I can no longer hold the series in a higher regard.

4) What is annoying about you is that you cannot accept that UC games are incredible games, some of the absolutely best games of the entire generation and that you just don't fancy them. No. You can't accept that and you just have to keep talking crap about them, saying that they are overrated, that ND had to fool people into playing them, etc. You may have your opinion about the games, you may not like them, the problem is that you are the one denying other people their opinion (or rather - forcing your opinion on the whole gaming world) and it just happens so that these "other people" happen to be the majority of gamers counted in millions, while you are the odd one and you should respect it.

For me Uncharted is exactly the type of game I love most. TPP game, story driven, linear, with good characters, a plot set in the real world about discovering secrets and mysteries from the ancient world - everything I expect from the perfect dream game! I can't say a single bad thing about UC so far (haven't played them all yet though). This is the perfect type of game for me though. Uncharted: Golden Abyss happens to be my favourite Vita game as well.

@Impertinence - we are excited, because ND hasn't made a bad game since the original Playstation. Crash has defined the Playstation and had Sony not lost the rights to him (how!? Just how did they do that!?) it would still be the official Sony mascot competing with Mario. Crash kart game was the best competition Mario Kart ever had. They made 4 games this gen. UC1 was the best reason to get a PS3 in the early part of its life, while UC2/UC3/TLoU are all candidates for the game of the generation, pushing the boundaries of their genre.

They have made legendary platformers, great racers and mind-blowing TPP games. No matter what they made, it was always gold. This causes everyone to expect that whatever they make is going to be huge. MS hasn't got a single studio that comes close to it, on the Nintendo side they could be compared to Retro, though obviously they are far more advanced (Retro is just making the jump to HD) and bigger (2 teams on ND). Retro is pretty much a small ND :)

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

My experience with Uncharted is very limited, but enough that I decided to never buy or play another game in the series ever again. However, this seems like a great place to ask: Am I wrong? Should I play an Uncharted game and why? How is Uncharted different (better) than Assassins Creed?

It sounds limited, hence, comparing it to Assassin's Creed as if it were the same genre. Assassins Creed has more in common with Ryse than it does Uncharted. Uncharted is a third person shooter with parkour elements and Naughty Dog's brand of immersive blending of cinematics to gameplay fidelity mistified some people making them forget they are watching a cutscene during a game. Many games have followed their camera tricks, and gameplay mechanics and even animations. Star Wars 1313,  Tomb Raider, The Last of Us, The Order: 1886, even MGS5 (and more) will take a page out of its book moving from the end of the curent gen into the next gen. Sony and their devs seem to be forming their own style out of the TPS (third person shooter) genre that is quickly becoming the hallmark of Sony quality and you notice it even when you look at third party games. Not to say it didn't get inspiration from elsewhere because obivously it has.

Not Trolling but Naughty Dog games dont interest me. Just not a fan of cinamatic/Quick time advent games.

Uncharted doesn't rely on quicktimes. I think you're overdoing it. Also, If you feel thar way about cinematics, I suggest you run and hide from the next gen.

They meant "You'll Be in Awe When You See Our PS4 Game"

better water effects and stuff, but hopefully not the same annoying gunfights.
