Forums - PC - WipEout fanmade spiritual successor 'SlipStream GX' demo out.

Yep, stolen shamelessly from GAF:

Looks like exactly the kind of thing I'd want from a spiritual successor.  Can't expect Studio-Liverpool levels of graphics, but it's looking pretty damn good.

Music from Cold Storage too (WipEout 1-3 + Pure).

Also, screw you Sony for making it come to this.

Looking really good, though they might want to change the name. They might anger the Gaming Gods! I take it it's just being made for PC. I highly doubt Sony would ever let a project like this get much beyond that. Though if they were clever, if it's shaping up well, they should snap it up as a PSN title.

Slipstream 5000 was one of the first PC games I had.

Looks fun, love hover car racing games lol remember playing a demo disc on ps1 oldschool top down hover car racing game, then playing Bully used to play the arcade machine on the dorm that was a hover car racing game, I find them addicting

they should change some aspects of it, it looks so much like Wipeout , why would I play this instead of that?

Playthrough of the demo.  Yeah, this is very much WipEout.

As Mike says, I kinda hope Sony approach them about a PSN release of this.  They already signed up some ex-Liverpool devs at Atomicon to develop Switch Galaxy Ultra for PS4 & Vita, so they're definitely not opposed to the idea.

Still, this got me very excited, no matter what platforms it ends up on.

Many people are still playing Wipeout HD so I don't quite get the point of this.

Us Nintendo gamers are getting Fast Racing League Neo from Shin'en multimedia that's pretty much like F-Zero, wonder if you have to use the back triggers on this for the corners.

Are they?  There's normally about a maximum of 10 lobbies (but often a lot less) online whenever I check.

Unless you mean playing the single player.  But I finished that about 3 years ago; and I finished WipEout 2048's single player about 6 months ago, so there's not really much left for me to play (that was getting an elite pass on every single cell of the campaign, too).

And since WipEout is all about learning the tracks like the back of your hand so you can get the best times on them, more tracks is never a bad thing.  In fact, I'd have kept buying DLC tracks on HD Fury/2048 for as long as they were making them, if Studio Liverpool were still around.

as a wipout fan this is disappointing.. it just looks lil a rip off. Its literally Wipout with rubbish graphics? whats the point? They should have mixed things up massively with crazy time travel maps and different ships ect. Really make people who like wipout excited for what could be next.

Well I guess they're anticipating with the closure of Liverpool Studio, that there won't ever be another Wipeout game. And so they're making their own next WipeOut title, as Kresnik says, new tracks are always welcome. So regardless of the visuals (it's a fan-make anyway) if they get the handling right, and there are new tracks, any WipeOut fan should be happy with the end product :)
