@poll: Yes, they need to make new ones. But not because I'm tired of their old IPs or anything like that, but because with new IPs they can do things that can't be done with their existing IPs.

Nintendo seems to understand that software sells hardware (at least they continue to say so), but they seem reluctant to actually start up new franchises.
