What if LEGO Dimensions is the Tantalus Wii U port?

Agreed, it would suck, but from day 1 this whole "mystery port" thing has smelled fishy to me.

I feel like if they knew we'd be happy with it, they would have told us by now, so they're milking the suspense for all its worth.

So, I just pre-ordered the Limited Edition of Splatoon with an Amiibo for 44.99€.

What informations do we have about Amiibo use in Splatoon?
I know that you get challenges that are simply rehashed singleplayer missions that unlock gear.
But is it purely cosmetic or connected to perks? And can you unlock all the Amiibo stuff and sell the figurines or do you have to keep them to activate the unlockables?

I'm not too sure really but I hope it's purely cosmetic.
