They can't be freaking serious! Really Iwata! Really? OMFG!

I wouldn't blame Iwata for that one. People have been asking for that since a long time now. With the failing consoles it was to be expected that he has to do what is expected from him.

Wait, wait, wait. Nintendo is putting their IPs on mobile?! 0.o
I don't even...
Tell me I'm just tired... I don't know how to respond... Just, what?

I'm going to go lie down for a bit...

Yep Nintendo have finally realised that 80% of their 7th gen audience moved to smartphones and if they want to avoid repeating these last few terrible years they have to expand to mobile. Now I just hope they realise how big this could be and they dont let the potential loss of sales for their handhelds effect them bringing over truly great expiriences, which it sounds like they are doing right now =(

Animal Crossing, Nintendogs, Fire Emblem etc. they would all be amazing on my phone, especially if Nintendo dont half ass it.

ugh, bothers me. Then again, if they do it well it could elevate mobile gaming from the shit it is to somewhat marginally less shitty.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

I doubt they willbut they are more than capable. The list of games Nintendo make that could easily be done on mobile aswell as they are on 3DS is huge and its a rather quality list too.

Alright, I'm back. I cooled my head, watched the conference and listened closely. And in the end, I'm not that worried. I didn't get the feel that this will affect Nintendo as negatively as people may think. It sounds like they will give attention to it, but not as a main focus, like moving slowly to the mobile market. It sounds like this is their way to tap into that market, but still provide the console games we all still know and love. It sounded like a separate thing, which I don't think we should worry about, for now. It's a sort of wait and see. My main concern is just if we will still get a dedicated handheld. I don't want my fun portable games moving to the mobile side of things, but I doubt Ninten will do this. They seem to get the differences between mobile games and software games, and seem to have a good understanding of the mobile market.

I'm also concerned about this linked 'membership' thing. I hope it doesn't imply things like subscriptions. For the mobile side of things, sure, they can do that, but keep that out of the console side >.

Also, I'm not fond of mobile games, like... at all, but I recognize there's a huge pool of people there to make a profit from, so I won't fault Ninten for going after it. They are still a business afterall. They can still go after them and give us the goods we are so used to :3

In short, I am not really worried! And I think we all shouldn't be either : )

The membership could be great though. Imagine if they offered their mobile games all for free with this subscription and gave them in game credits for any F2P games but then also on the console side they offered exclusive discounts, VC games and aging retail games like PS+. It would be a great way to draw in your mobile gamers to the handheld/home console who are now getting things for a console they may not own yet.

Also not a fan of mobile games?? Sorry this is just a tad confusing to me as their is no difference between mobile games and handheld games really. The real problem is wading through the F2P crap to find the good games, and then most people bitch that they have to pay $5-20 for a great expirience.

On a more upbeat note, there will likely be another Mario Kart 8 tourney this weekend if there's interest. The past couple of tournaments have been rather successful so let's see if we can keep the momentum.

I'd be there to forget about the Smash embarrassment.
