Agreed. Nintendo doesn't do a very good job of building hype and awareness of their upcoming games, they're too secretive for their own  good.

For some reason, Nintendo really likes to 'surprise' their fans by announcing a game really late... they really need to find better marketing strategies.

It creates this false idea that there's no games, cos they keep things secret 'til the 11th hour, like with Majora's Mask 3D, Tropical Freeze, Captain Toad, etc.

Yes, I think N needs better marketing ways.
I feel like most of the low amounts of hype in a year is generated by us fans. It should be the other way round and much more and better TV commercials.

Oh, and bundles. Still can't believe there was no Smash Bundle. Hopefully Splatoon gets one but probably won't.

Exclusive retail games with a Metascore of 80 and above:
PS4: 2 (1 remake)
XBOne: 4 (1 remake)
Wii U: 11 (2 remakes)

I think the Wii U is a failure BECAUSE of the Gamepad and horrible marketing/ hype levels in the first year, when Nintendo was still going after the casuals.

Gamepad has both negatives and positive but imo it's pointless since they cancel eachother out. It's pointless & bad because it makes the console look horrible at first sight.

sigh, the Gamepad is not the cause you know. The cause was HD development. Let me put it this way, if every retail nintendo Wii U game came out every 2 weeks the momentum would be incredible. However everytime something increases momentum their release schedule kills it. Tropical freeze boosted Wii U but it died off within a month, Mario kart boosted wii u died off during summer. All they needed, ALL they needed was more games and marketting. and games coming out more often. They also need better placement. Kirby is not a momentum starter, DK is, Mario kart is! Kirby comes to late after smash. Toad is a momentum carrier but he can only do so much, he can't hold for 2 months which is what he had to do for kirby to continue the momentum. However not all hope is lost, March nintendo has 1 more momentum starter being mario party, but they need that april slot for the US or the momentum will die again. 1 game every month would be enough to beat 2014, but they need at leats every 3 weeks to truly see great gains.

So essentially, Nintendo's fault entirely.

Tho I do think the Gamepad puts off at least 2m people lol.

And the name of the device too. Talk about terrible branding

To me, it doesn´t seem that the Gamepad is such huge problem. Most people look at it with curiosity on retailers, but they also look the advertisment boards and think that WiiU is no different from Wii. I´ve seen many many people at our local Fnac looking at it and saying: "oh, that´s that old console from Nintendo, yeah, it´s a Wii, it´s old" and stuff like that.

Yeah, I run into people to this day who think Wii U is a pad for the Wii.

Which game should I buy used, Kirby Triple Deluxe or DKCR 3D? I watched about 5 reviews for both, and I still can't decide! Length is not an issue, just trying to figure out which will be more fun. So far, I know that DK is much harder and slightly longer and has 2 modes. Kirby is shorter, much easier and 5 modes (including secret ones). Both have enough collectibles to satisfy the completion in my and I think Kirby has more of them since from my Kirby experience, the secrets are hard to find (and pretty much only challenging part outside the bosses).

I like the world better in Kirby, but as a platformer overall I dunno which one to get. Buying used because it's cheaper. Getting both this year is not an option.

Agree. If you told me that this is the new shoe design of Nike/Addidas/etc, I would completely believe it.

Maybe Nintendo should explore that option, partner with one of the big makers to launch a range of Splatoon inspired shoes.

Please excuse my bad English.

Yes, I knew that the Wii U was a different console, but originally thought that the Gamepad was the whole console, not just a controller...

The 'new' 3DS is by far the worst named console by Nintendo, so much confusion!

I haven't played either so I am in the same situation! Though if I got to decide now, I would probably go with Kirby... but I don't think there is a wrong answer in this case!
