The lack of online modes is a shame, but the game seems to be pretty great otherwise. I'll probably end up picking it up around launch, just depends on other expenses at the time lol.

Indeed. If it comes out around the same time as XCX, then...

Hey! A man can dream.

Bunch of new Splatoon info from Famitsu:

- Team made up of lots of staff that worked on Wii U launch titles. Once they'd grasped the hardware, they wanted to create something innovative.
-Working on a local multiplayer mode in addition to online and Hero Mode
- Hero mode is predominantly a 3D platformer with heavy emphasis on human-squid transformations
- Random matching is done world wide, game tries to place you with players close to your skill level based on ratings
- Tried implementing a system whereby you could give orders to your team mates, but battles were too quick and hectic for them to be effective so they got rid of the feature
- Game won't use CPU fighters; only once 8 human players have been found will a match start
-Having multiple modes with random matching would limit the number of players per mode, so all the focus is on the 4 vs. 4 for that
- No communication with players you are matched with
- They didn't think of using Bloopers when they decided on squids (they apparently forgot they existed)
- No money can be earned in Hero Mode. Your points, as displayed at the end of the match, are turned into money and experience points.
- A lot of the music is written by Tooru Minegishi (who has worked on Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Super Mario)

Yeah, this game is going to score quite low on metacritic now. Probably somewhere in the low 60s.

Welp

All these damn timelines.. wait a second.. does that mean Splatoon is a Mario game after all? Nothing but rehashes Nintendo, smh -_-

I'm totally getting Splatoon around launch! It's close to my birthday

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

ONLY 1 online mode is a huge dissapointment imo, even KI: U had 2! No voice chat is slightly dissapointing.

That is good Splatoon news. Who here's gonna be picking it up?

Not high enough in priority list for me.

Actually, so far only Zelda U is the only Wii U game I'll be buying  this year. XCX is too huge and long, Starfox we have no info on essentially and the rest don't interest me.  I also set myself a limit of 3 retail games this year. Games that made the list so far are: (may change):

U Zelda

MM Zelda

New Fire Emblem.

Hmm, retagging I guess.

I had such high hopes for splatoon, now I'm considering taking it out of my avatar.

Woah, that bad? Didn't realise this news was so controversial.

I like the game and concept, but they are starting something that has potential, and then not finishing it. Crazy that they are planning ship this with one online mode, Hero mode sounds ok, but the whole selling point is this online you will have. I'm sure there will be a ton of maps, but I want to do a little more than shoot paint on territory every time. Then, no form of communication, chances are I would not talk much, but it should be something in the game. It just feels like an incompleted game right now. I hope they delay the game and finish it. The scores are going to be low on this game at its current state(they still do have some to announce, but the info today made it sound like just more maps). I would still buy it, since I love the concept. But I would never buy it full price.

It shall stand for now, unless I find something I have to put, since I still do like the evil look.

You make a good point. It's kinda an odd one for there to be so little online when it's the first thing we saw, but it still seems like an overreaction. No point knocking it before you try it, after all.

Also MM3D at 90, that's pretty good.
