Sales of Nintendo's latest portable surged last week after retailers cut the price.

2DS was launched three weeks ago alongside Pokémon X and Y. The machine was on sale for around £110, but last week major retailers including Argos, Amazon and Tesco cut the machine to under £100 to coincide with the school half-term

It proved to be the magic price point, as sales of 2DS has shot up 64 per cent week-on-week. 2DS was comfortably the UK's best selling console last week, and that's without combining the sales of 3DS and 3DS XL.

Nintendo told MCV last month it would increase its TV advertising for 3DS and 2DS during the half-term week.

Argos deal included 2 games for £99. Expect sales to drop a lot this week as none of the newer deals include games. And half term is different weeks in different regions, not that it matters.

i disagree nintendo 2ds is not even in the top 100 on german amazon, but in the top 40 on amazon uk...


definetly must be the marketing, hope they start doing it in germany and usa too

Good thing 3ds+XL sales are not included so the drop off if there is one wont be as big

Just imagine holiday sales, this boost will look like nothing come end of Nov+ all of Dec!
