I can see the WiiU version make decent use of ambient occlusion mapping, but have lower resolution shadows compared to PS4 version. I'd like to know more about the use of the gamepad before i make a decision. So far, AC4 is the best looking WiiU game so far. Looks really, really good imo.

AC4 has a different protagonist from the previous games both in the world of the assassin/pirate and of the guy who uses the machine to relive his ancestor's memories.

The only thing you probably wont understand is the lore of what is happening in the modern world in the game's universe but the assassin gameplay probably wont affect you much storyline wise since its usually its own storyline addition to the lore.

Desmond Miles (who was the primary protagonist in the story of the AC series) will make a cameo but will not play a major role in the overall storyline.

I think all of you saw the comparison between the PS3 and PS4 version of this game and the difference wasn't very huge. People, who saw or have played the Wii U version say, that it looks much better than the PS3 and Xbox360 versions. So I think Wii U will look similiar to the PS4 and X1 versions.

Nah, don't let that stop you. The story is dull, poorly acted, and mostly serves to get in the way of actually playing the game, so the fact that you don't know it is no good reason not to get the game.

One of the cool things of vgchartz is that some users has a time machine to go to the future to play all the versions and return to the past to show us what is the best version of the game.
The fact that the best version is always in his/her beloved company console is just a coincidence.

buy 2 and then dont play the rest. you dont need to play 1 to understand 2. you dont need to play 2 to understand 3 and you dont need 3 to understand 4. the story of desmond (not the Assassin, but the guy in current time) sucks and makes no sense anyways.
