Did you guys think the Wii U was selling well in Europe all this time? I'm afraid I have some bad news.

There's doing badly, and then there's doing horribly. This is the latter. Looking at stores and the selection in some Finnish stores I knew it wasn't doing so hot (not at two games being available levels, but still), but I didn't expect to see it do negatively, literally.

well something smelled strange when I bought the wiiu for 150€ less than it should be and that I'm able to buy 1st party games for less than retail.
and no usually 1st party game prices stay the same even after 5years ... you can't have them for 10-20€ less.
but for me it was a win situation, never was I able to get nintendo hw and software for that cheap.

Yeah, it's doing horribly. But the numbers we have show that. A shipment of literally 0 Wii Us to Europe would have come as no surprise to me -- and a negative shipment? Well, considering the phasing out of the Basic models right before the end of the quarter explains that.
This just isn't alarming to me, because I was already alarmed by it six months ago. Since then, it's just been same-old-same-old.

10k shipped in 3 months. Retailers overstocked after Christmas 2012, so they basically didn't need to order any more units. |
This makes the most sense to me. The wii u was selling like 25k a week world wide. Something like 4k in Europe. Asda in the UK couldn't get rid of them and sold them for half price. £199 or even less for the deluxe back in June. Here lies a prime example of why there were so few orders.
The way I see it retailers just kept hold of the early shipments and didn't bother to order any more because the sales were so bad - as you said.
But things are looking better now. If only slightly.

Yeah, I see. I've not been following shipments at all, and sales just barely. Gotta enter for a title like that one, though.

It states that -10k have been sold this fiscal year. Since the first quarter was positive 10k, that leaves negative 20k for the second quarter. |
In financial report, only (1) is written. Can someone explain me where its written that its a negative?

A number in parentheses is negative.
This figure is shipped by Nintendo.
VGChartz has it selling about 170-175k in the same period.
All this means is that Nintendo are still dealing with having far to much stock out there from over estimating the console out the gates.
Wasn't it originally meant to ship 5.5m by March 13? Its not even there now, that shows you how much they over estimated.
I'm not defending the figures, they're awful, just thought I'd share the facts.
