Forums - Sony - Sony Can You Stop Cheaping Out On The Manuals? - Killzone Shadow Fall Unboxing

Shadowfall doesn't need a manual.

Why? Because manuals have one use: they're something to leaf through while you wait for all those splash screens to go away. Shadowfall doesn't have those. It goes right to the menu.

And I'm only half kidding about that. I don't care about manuals at all and that was honestly the only time I ever cracked one open in the modern era. When I was a kid it was a different story, as I didn't know what the hell I was doing back then.

Most games have in-game tutorials. I could care less.

Someone clearly looks like they are infatuated with consumerism and hates the environment.

Lol you can't be serious, how many game manuals do you think could be made from the same paper made from all the newspapers made only today.  Getting rid of game manuals will have next to no impact on the environment.

You're correct. No doubting that. But I dont know anyone my age or younger that subscribes to a newspaper. Hopefully those will go away soon as well.

I would say most games don't even require a manual anymore, and (at least I know with Nintendo) they offer them on the copy of the game digitally.

We have to deal with the fact that manuals cause more harm than good. My trees in the park are not happy with the current situation the world is in. It needs more O2, and trees actually like to work.

I think we should accept that manuals should be digital, then the trees would be happy, and thus the world would be a better place.

many paper companies nowadays plant more trees than they cut down

I like the move away from paper manuals. It makes environmental and economic sense.

Game companies should take a page out of rockstars book and offer the manuals as smartphone apps.

Welcome to the future.

Especially sad to see it as someone who remembers the manual that the original Killzone had (newspaper style!)

I like the move away from paper.. Im bad enough on the environment gotta atleast do something..

.. but then again ill miss the bathroom reading material..

A game manual bad for the environment?

Haha, I get half a pound or more of commercial flyers in the mail every week, plus a crap free newspaper wrapped in plastic to keep it dry. They finally stopped delivering that one after I had let them pile up on the doorstep for months, they got the hint. Yet there are still 2 unwanted thick paper copies of the yellow pages laying there.
Plus all the addressed mail crap. Paperless billing is great but it doesn't stop all the 'offers' in the mail. 95% of what gets in my mailbox goes directly into recycling.

A paper manual is the last thing to worry about. Make it from recycled commercial flyers, problem solved.

Dw guys... Nintendo will forever have manuals that don't suck
