Forums - Gaming - Oculus Rift first impression thread

I tested it out at an Indie company, they had a demo with Iron Man.   You could put your hands facing to the ground and then you fly up and behind you to boost forward and etc..(well how Iron man would Fly I guess) It was amazing certainly looking down after you flew up for a mile or two.  I got a little sick after playing it though.

300 dollars? I could buy a console with that much money!

It's not just for AR, it's also VR, can be displayed on a wall or your monitor or full VR mode like Oculus, and you can actually see your keyboard and mouse if you don't feel like attaching the VR clip on. Just read through it.

BTW let me have some Oculus input since that's what this thread is for. I actually have used Oculus HD prototypes, the VR is very cool, there is still some head tracking delays due to the way it's implemented so I get motion sickness from it after a few minutes, I'm talking like, my body turns cold, and I begin to produce cold sweat, then start to get quiet dizzy if head tracking is there. I was going to buy Oculus for sure after retail version comes out regardless because I thought it'd be awesome, until I saw the Kickstarter for castAR, which is suppose to not give me motion sickness and does what Oculus does and a lot more at a cheaper price from KS (and much lighter.) Those Valve people don't fuck around. O_O;

Never even heard of CastAR until today. However I know for a fact the VR aspect of it isn't as good as Oclulus Rift's, and like I said I didn't get motion sickness at all and the latency was very good for a prototype, have you tried castAR yet?
