Wow that was pretty harsh, I sold my PS3 due to the lack of good JRPGs and to have money for a 3DS XL and this only helps my argument...

Firstly, I wouldn't take this Jaded Review of this game as Gospel. Many people really loved this game including myself. Over all it was highly rated by those who get JRPGs.

Second, huh? PS3 has plenty of outstanding JRPGs. Valkyria Chronicles, Folklore, Resonance of Fate, Tales of Xillia, Demon's Souls, Disgaea 3/4, KH 1.5 HD Final Mix, WKC(admittedly this might be more of an acquired taste). As far as Console offerings this gen, PS3 was the way to go.

Pokemon X beats 'em all for me :P

PS: I agree about the bad AI though.

Boring story + boring battle system and leveling= boring game.

After putting in some 15 hours into this game, I couldn't find any reason to keep playing and so I quit.

Gosh I don't agree with this review at all. Id give it an 8.5/10 guess the games not for everyone.

Everyone deserves their own opinion and all that jazz but this review I cannot get with. It sounds like a rushed one done before someone even finished the game. Played it for a few hours without really knowing how it works and was just like "This is dumb, I don't like it".

This game is most definitely a Solid 9/10 for me. I would hate for someone who was interested in this game to take a review like this serious.

*edit*

If you look at the percentage of people who have acquired the trophy it's 38%.  That means 62% of the people who have atleast placed the game in their PS3 once haven't finished.  Pretty large number.  Maybe because there's a lot of people who think it's a bad game and didn't care to suffer anymore by forcing themselves through the remainder of the game.

If my having the trophy doesn't convince you I could take a picture.  My save data should say Im on level 50, completed game data, with 35 hours and such and such minutes.

Ok, so you actually did beat the game. I still think your lack of understanding in how the combat flow works(proven by your OP) warps your opinon of this great game for sure.

Seriously, read my long post from the 1st page and reassess what that means for your review.

EDIT for Your EDIT: No it doesn't. I think if we were to find more statistical data we would find that most people don't finish RPGs in a timely manner, or any game in general that lasts longer than 10hrs. When dealing with something as open and broad like NiNoKuni, GTAV, Elder Scrolls Skyrim......yea. I still haven't beat Skyrim, doesn't mean I didn't like it. I just savor my good games.

Ok, if that is how you feel. Pokemon is quite awesome. I would keep in mind that NiNoKuni has a very pokemon esque feel but more action oriented. Instead of the monster standing in place you physically direct them. THis was the main draw for me.

The only thing I really hated about the game was how most of dialog didn't have voice overs, only the main plot did. I know that happens with a lot of JRPGs but after playing tales right before picking up this one, it just annoyed the shit out of me. The rest is ok, a 4.5 is a bit too harsh imo. I would say 7/10

I'm aware how to play the game.  Using skills against enemies that weren't strong against physical, and defending against anything that didn't attack all allies during random battles was useless.  It was more efficient to have the only equipped skills or low level attack skills and to not bother defending and restore health with Oliver after the battle.

I didn't defend or evade on any random battle after acquiring my second character unless the spell was cast on multiple characters.  There's no reason to defend when the attack usually hit another character, and it's a waste to just defend with everyone, then after defending the next monster casts a skill and you can't defend.  So instead of defending, I focused my attacks on a single enemy until they were dead, whichever one I found had the best spell.

Only against bosses I'd defend.  Bosses were actually the only time combat wasn't complete  garbage.

ni no kuni is probably my favorite JRPG game this gen

also @ the a.i wasting MP part: thats why you set their tactics to dont use abilitys, then when you want them too you activate all out attack! then deactivate it
