And have now invested in both PS1 and PS2 :). I am a XBox/Sega longtime fan but is is always nice to expand your gaming horizon. These are my impressions from PSVita so far.
Build quality 4/5: This is one awesome machine! It is sturdy, the controls feel solid (although the build quality of the triggers could have been somewhat better) and the speakers are great. I have a hard time getting used to the buttons since I am so used to ABXY, but the layout is almost always the same though. The touchpad in the back and screen in front is also of really high quality. The only thing that really bugs me is the analog sticks. Their position and build quality is superb, but they are way too slippery on the top, making it hard to play games were you need to make quick turns. Oh, and the battery life is very good indeed!
System 4/5: The system boot-up is so quick! When the machine is in its sleep mode it starts instantly with the press of a button. This makes the handheld very accesible. The only draxback with the system is that there are occasions when the downloads do not work properly, it also sometimes download a game twice which is strange. Oh, and they have the best web browser I have seen on any console or handheld.
PSN store 2/5: I felt I should put this one separately since it is such a big part of the handheld. The PSN store has some positive things like the value you get from PS+ and the HUGE list of older games. But it really annoys me that I can´t keep the games I get with PS+ when I stop subscribing. Also, it is very hard to get an overview of the games in the store, it just feels disconnected and actually quite unfinsihed. Igames I get the weirdest results and sometimes it fails to recognize when I purchase a game. They need to improve is ASAP.
Games 5/5: Anyone critizising PSVita for lack of games do not know what they are talking about. The library for the PSVita games need to grow but man the amount of PSP and PS1 games at your disposal is amazing! They have also been careful in selecting what games they put in there so the general quality of games is very high indeed.
Price 4/5: For what you get, the price is really reasonable. The memory cards are too expensive but you can fit alot of games on them.
Overall 4/5: I have such a hard time getting why it sells so bad considering the machine Sony has put together. I have never owned a handheld but PSVita got me sold on the concept and really shows the difference between this and gaming on a phone or tablet. Highly recommended to all!
