Will the PS4's mighty 1.84 teraflops make it in the world’s top 500 supercomputers? Leading the way is the is Titan which achieved 17.59 petaflop/s!

A petaflop is the ability of a computer to do one quadrillion floating point operations per second (FLOPS). Additionally, a petaflop can be measured as one thousand teraflops.

As mighty as the PS4 is and as nice as it sounds, the PS4 is not a super computer, but it can do something the Titan can't , that is play games. :)

Yes. Which makes it even worse when you can't meet those standards in 2013.

Does a ''supercomputer'' have to pay more tax i wonder. Would be the case if this was in the Netherlands.

The Cray-2 had about a about 0.1% of the flops of the PS4...

Basically by definition a mass market product can't be a supercomputer in the time it is released.

PS4 has about 1000x more flops than the Cray-2.

1.843 TFLOPS = 1,843 GFLOPS (PS4)

1.9 GFLOPS.  (Cray-2)

A console can be a super computer if it believes hard enough and digs deep enough.

Damn if I take my computer to Japan it would be also considered a Super computer haha they need to update it.
