But what if it looks worse at full HD?

Look at GOW HD verse GOW:A

Obviously the HD port isn't using all the PS3's power, but it shows my point. The second image that's only 720p looks much much better.

I know you just want more posts, but stop this :P That's pushing it too much ;)

I'm fully serious. Devs should sacrifice IQ if it allows the graphics to be bumped up.

Look at the PS3. It was fully capable of doing 1080p yet so many games were well below that. Why? Because dropping the resolution makes the game look better. It's just like the argument of 30fps vs 60fps.

however there is only so much in game graphics you can bump without needing a higher res to show it. its like if GoW:A was SD, they could bump the quality up so much more but it still wouldnt show. there is a need for balance.

Of course, but look at any real life picture at SD. It still has much better graphics than any game we've seen. Increased texture sizes and polycounts as well as better lighting would be fully visible without bumping up the render resolution.

This is a big deal.

I don't know how anyone can pretend it isn't.

it isnt. yes there is a difference between 1080p and 720p. but rendering at 720p is still HD and it will still look good enough. everybody knew that the PS4 is a stronger console and its just logical to know that multiplates will be better on it. the only people who would have thought other wise were the Xbox one fans in denial and who believed stuff like secret sauce and second GPU nonesense.

this is expected, its certainly a good thing for the PS4 to have, but its expected. and the xbox one versions of the games are just infirior graphically, not broken or unplayable in any way.

IMO, In the case of Call of duty xbox one version, i doubt the dropping of resolution has anything to do to make the game looks better but more about increasing performance.

C'mon guys 900p!!

Funny you use the word balance. How is balance achieved? You need to sacrifice something don't ya? If you're prioritising maxing the resultion you're not really looking for balance.

you always need to sacrifice something. but some hardware doesnt need to sacrifice much to achive 1080p. games will look sharper, better, cleaner with 1080p than it is 720p. again when it comes to a point that the hardware it able to achieve 1080p without sacrificing much, then its only logical that we bump up the res. specially when there is a big difference. you do realize that it would reach a point that no matter how much you bump up the res of a texture it wont show without bumping up the res of the output, right?
