Quality of the games isn't the problem, for every 1 person who doesn't like a certain FF, they love others. Some times the new magic system and story isn't to people's liking.
However, think about what you just said, considering FFXI and FFXIV were MMOs, since FFX we've had 2 main series titles. There's been a lot of remakes in that time sure. But it's not much of a stat, you haven't liked 2 games. Maybe if we have more to play we might not think the series is broken.
