Forums - Sales - So GTAV did not sell 17.5 millions first week

It was obvious for any people knowing how charts work.

Vgchartzs numbers were 5 millions off at least as I predicted. It's time to improve the reliability of these "estimates".

Sames for the 5.5 millions of Pokemon sold in one day. I estimated it at 4 millions personnally and was much closer than Vgchartz. When random people can estimate better than a "professional" tracking website then things are going badly.

Based on the 1 billions in sales in the first 3 days that alone would be over 15 million copies.

Did I miss something? How much did GTA sell then?

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

It was just adjusted dowb by nearly 4 millions in the USA following NPD numbers. It was probably overtracked as well in Europe.

hmm.. maybe that's the combined rrp of the copies they shipped to retailers up to that time (including the days before the start of sales ofc), as most numbers we get from the companies are shipping numbers

It was probably revenue and shipments. 17.5 mil was way too high. Using that $1b figure it would probably be closer to 14.4mil. The only way 7mil in 3 weeks even makes sense is if Europe sold more than the US... which I doubt

Sales that broke the record would have included Digital aswell with I imagine would be quite high for this title when you consider most titles normally do around 10% digital that amounts to over 1 million.

We know it sold around 11M copies day 1 and sales are already at 3M in the UK alone.
