in that case.  an increase is the forecast.

What's looking to be the cause of this possible increase in revenues and profits?

Well, its a trend. lol.  Don't believe what you hear here.  Most people haven't got a scooby's

Despite popular belief revenue and profits have steadily risen for the entire time Ballmer has been CEO.

And Windows isnt even top dog any more at MS.

Out of interest, what do you think the impact of OS X now being free will be? (Not on these results obviously.) I've seen a lot of articles that seem to consider it a move against MS, and they will have to make up the 25% revenue on their "devices and services" restructuring.

Fair enough. Probably a decent guess as I don't think much from the Mac part of Apple has affected MS.

Wow, that is an impressive trend. I had no idea that both revenue and profit have more than doubled in the last ten years on average.

Macs will never compete, too expensive.

Interestingly though I have just had a free update on my windows 8 to 8.1 and will take the upgrade to Maverick soon.... both on my MacBook.   It would be interesting to see how mnay have windows bootcamped on their macs as I do.

A long while ago it was around 25%, but that was years.  Not sure about now.

Please post about how 8.1 goes and how you like/hate it.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

well it depends what you are referring to?

General revenue amount and profit margin.

@ Seece, that's true. Actually considering GTA V came out during this quarter they could be looking at a very slight bump in profits and revenue (again, very slight compared to the total amount they pull in).

And I would like to add that MS increased their headcount by 50k during Ballmers time as a CEO. (without the Nokia buyout, thats another 35k)

But who needs facts?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I bought a used truck ten years ago for 4500. Buying a similar one now for 9k.

Inflation. In ten years the value of a dollar could easily half. Double revenue and profit for Microsoft could mean no real increase, just bigger numbers.

Similar to how a movie ticket cost way less ten years ago, so if you just count in dollars box office records are always being set (went to see Gravity the other day, in 3D ticket was $14). If you count in attendance, much less so.

24 hours!

Excited to see huge profits again!
Its also good that the share price is back up after that big fall in July when they said they would take a loss on the Surface tablets.

I was very pleased with the 8.1 update. It fixed the only issue I had with 8 (lack of 50:50 split, not the start button everyone else seems to complain about). It was nice it was free, but I don't really expect that to happen with any major updates, not for a while at least.
