God I love new tech, be it software or hardware!

It is cool.  But I doubt it will ever be utilized as well as that demo shows it.  Physx should really be open source...

I don't. All previous PhsyX demos came to pass in real games (the most recent being Metro: Last Light). If you're an SLI gamer, with at least a 600 series card, you should be able to enjoy what is here.

I have tried Physx before on my 560 Ti, and my 765m (Basically 650 Ti).  The performance dip is never worth some more sh!t flying around.  I even found it annoying in Borderlands 2 where it is supposed to be awesome and I had plenty of extra performance left over.

I couldn't even tell the difference in Metro: LL without concentrating hard.  Honestly I don't call that sucessful implementation at all.  And it will never be utilized because only Nvidia cards can ge the most out of it.   It's just not worth the time when AMD and Intel together  owns nearly 60% of the market, and other Physics engine do just as well or better.  I mean look at BF4!!!

Which is why I said "SLI gamer". PhysX on a single 560Ti is not going to be the same as it would be with two of them. In fact, the OP talks specifically about multi-GPU users.

But I even said that I played PhysX games where performance wasn't a problem.  I max out BL2 completely and physx doesn't lower my framerate.  The problem was the extra effects are annoying as hell!  Making popcorn-looking pebbles fall out of everything shot in excessive amounts is not "Pretty."

It doesn't matter if you can run it easily, it looks like sh!t; and that is because they have to program for AMD/Intel cards as well.  Thus they always make some half-assed attempt at extra effects that adds absolutely nothing to gameplay...

holy fuck that Project Cars picture.

Yep, that's really how it can look too! I'm in the beta and can achieve those results!

i freaking love how PCs are advancing. I'm possibly getting a really high paying job in 1-3 months and i can't wait to build up my new PC!

I don't think it looks bad at all, but then, I'm in the 1% who probably can run it as intended. Metro: Last Light with Advanced PhysX turned on has no physics equal anywhere in gaming, for example.

Again I checked it out in LL.  I couldn't notice anything but a few extra particles.  I even double checked to make sure all of the flags and cloth effects were still in the non-physx version.  All of the awsome things were still there (Including when that guys pulls the cloth off that train car, damn that was beautiful).

Also I don't know how someone can say Physx is unparalleled when Battlefield 4 has unrivalled large-scale distruction and Crysis  1 (Don't know about the other crappy ones) had absolutely incredible physics.

Have you played all through and beaten both Metro: Last Light & Crysis, on high-end machines? Well, I have, and I stand by it. Metro is doing more with PhysX (and physics) than the latter. It's the bread and butter of PC tech.

Battlefield 4 is irrelevant, as it isn't out. I'm talking now.

Well you are entitled to your opinion, but don't think for a second I just made a half-hearted attempt to test it to make myself feel better.  I was very careful to look for differences in multiple areas, and in fact my brother could 100% not tell when physx was enabled.

And yes I have played the Battlefield 4 beta.  Entire sections of wall can be blown off, then you can use them for cover because they actually stay there and have colision.  Bullet casings bounce off of everything and stay on the ground for a very long time (I never saw them leave), and there is actual combat on ocean waves.  The waves are not in the background to just look pretty, they can be interacted with.

And there is my point:  In BF4 the physics effect gameplay.  PhysX will never effect gameplay as long as the code can only be run by Nvidia GPU's.  Higher resolutions and AA make distant enemies easier to see while popcorn flying everywhere does nothing to help the player...

From video...."so you get kind of a bouncy balls, they interact with each other and they squish and compress..."

So, how good it actually is? Can it reproduce that Rachel Williams video in real time? :p
