You deactivate your old PS3 and activate your new one? lol I've only had two PS3s activated on my account at most, so I'm not sure either.

J_Allard describes the pros and conns quite good about this (post above mine). It is partly better than the PS3 way of doing it but at the same time it has a downside. With PS3 though you could only ever download the game twice as far as i know. |
You are wrong, that would be stupid. It is unlimited.

On the PS3 you don't even have to be signed in. Or is this sarcasm. If it is, don't mind me. I'm sleepy. |
It's better because there is no need to go through activating/deactivating when/if you play a game on a second console. Just designate your home console then anytime you play on another consolen you just sign in/download and play.

I'm not wrong. Like others are saying you need to deactivate/activate your PS3...
Im pretty sure that if you bought a digital game and installed it on your home PS3...then went to a friend logged in and re-downloaded the game, it would work for that friend. But you cant keep doing that on multiple PS3's. This was an issue a while back when people were able to download games up to 5 times.
One guy buys a game and then gives hes details to hes friends and then they just download it and play. As far as i know you didnt need to logged in with any specific account once the games was downloaded. This was changed to 2 downloads that are allowed. This does not count for your home console or which ever console you have activcated/deactivated. Im pretty sure thats the way it works.
This was all a loophole though. This was never meant to be some sort of sharing policy.

Has it always been like this? I remember me and my friends use to download and share games. This was a few years back. Then Sony changed the number to 2 downloads. And that kinda killed it.
Also what we are saying is not necessarily in contradiction...it could be a case where you only need to deacticate/activate your PS3 once you have surpassed the 2 downloads. Sony can't not let you download games you already paid for.
But i know for sure that you can re-download games twice without the need to do any activating/deacticating. Ive done this myself. Maybe it has changed since then again i dont know :/

Seriously, you're making it sound more confusing than it has to be.
On the PS3 you aren't limited to two downloads. You can download the game 500 times if you wish, even on consoles where the account isn't activated. Let's say you did download the game to an account that wasn't activated. It just wouldn't work, but as soon as you deactivated from another, then activated that one, the file would work.

Yoshida's tweet did confirm that you can play the same game on two different consoles at the same time through one digital version. As I've said before, with what it says on the Knack preorder page, it's probably that game alone that has some sort of DRM tied to it since the rest of what it shows is that you can play games on two activated consoles, which is exactly what the PS3 listings show.

The only reason it worked like that is because if you didn't have five activated consoles yet, it would auto activate the console once you signed in. If your activations were at max, then it wouldn't.

Oh, sorry I thought you were saying you can't download the game more than twice on the same ps3. Carry on.
