Forums - Sales - Vita sales up 1600% in Japan!

whats different with the 2000 model?

Around the Network

1601%** ^^ haha

That's about what I expected really, similar numbers to when the price dropped.

Fascinating, that's more then what the Wii U is suggested to have done in the US in a month... and yet i can't help but wonder how many of those sales were cannibalized by previous owners who just wanted the new model.

Handhelds are weird like that. My Aunt bought 3 separate Nintendo DS.

It's hard to think an improvement in hardware could make such a difference with new buyers.

SAVED!!!!!!!!! see guys you don't need games to sell hardware

Stop with the lies. Just the last 3 weeks there have been about 10 games releases in europe. In Japan and the US its even more.

How many of them were pokemon?

Not having pokemon doesnt mean not having games.

'yes but thats only 1600 sold, last week what did it sell.. 1?' - There i said it

I was wondering how many might be "upgrades" though that would baffle me, as it's actually a downgrade on the launch unit. I know I'll be picking up an OLED 3G Vita as soon as possible as a back up.

I think the LCD model Vita is actually a bit cheaper than the OLED one in Japan too. Could have sworn it was like 18,000 rather than 19,000 yen?

The massive drop off in sales since the new models were announced also suggests that people were holding off for the new model.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

1600% of 1 is not 1600 :P

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

But this didn't help any according to Kowenicki because months ago when games were releasing it was selling about 15k weekly.

No offense but I am pretty sure I recall you telling me you did not care about handhelds at all and that you were only following consoles (hence why you were always negative on the wiiU but never on the vita). lol...  Typical.

OP: I think it's a great number but what will be even more interesting to see in the next couple of weeks will be the new baseline of the vita in Japan. After it's pricecut, it was typically selling 15k a week in Japan. I think this time it might settle at around 25k (Hopefully).

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M
