Forums - Gaming - Watch Dogs and The Crew delayed until Spring 2014

Something told me Ubisoft was getting concerned about GTA's success leading up to the launch of Watch Dogs. This is the best decision they could make imo. Especially for a game they plan to make into a franchise.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

The IGN PlayStation Editor.

If he thinks saying that he is doing a favor to playstation 4, he is doing the opposite. If the alternative of playing one of the more ambitious and more hyped next gen games is to play an indie game.... For me, at least, that's really annoying.

Good. I'd rather they took a little longer to make it better.

Better for spacing out releases on the next gen consoles too, if it comes sooner rather than later (which I presume it will - edit: Although looking at IGN's article, it's going to be at least April!)

Might clash with InFAMOUS next year though, which I hope means the latter won't get shafted because it's looking absolutely excellent.

Now, what's this about The Crew? I'm far more interested in that. Although I suppose we do still have Need for Speed ready for launch should I be getting a PS4 this year (and DriveClub should I feel so inclined).

inFamous i was worried about as well, but that's lower-profile, so it won't be as much of an issue.

On my end, this moves the game from "most likely not" back to a solid "maybe"

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I think he is saying that right now Resogun is more fun than Watch_Dogs... I think the Ubisoft delay have a lot to do with that fact... Watch_Dogs is nowhere near at the GTAV quality (a "old" gen game).

While this has been delayed because GTA5 is still selling well and they don't want any competition as well as Assassin's Creed 4, hopefully they take the time to get this game running at 60fps for both next gen consoles.

Or GTAV quality is so superior... I bet that is the case.

Other than possible content they might be adding, sure, but for gameplay? I don't think that's the case.  GTA5's combat is pretty crappy compared to just about any game that has third person shooting this gen.  Going by the demo videos, the cover system works much better in Watch Dogs, it's not so stiff of a cover system.  Can't tell about everything else until we actually play Watch Dogs.

However I don't think it's more content that they're adding unless they just add it during this time instead of just doing nothing with it.  I think it's less that the game isn't already complete and more because we're in the middle of October already and GTA5 is still selling two million a week.  They probably don't want to lose sales or havee their reviews slammed because of how overrated GTA5 is right now.  I even admitted in another thread that after going back to the game after  finishing it, I think I overrated it by a large amount..

The Crew was delayed because now Ubisoft will make a Wii U version....

I can dream right?

Ubisoft main focus is beat GTA or at least make some competition... GTA have the name and history to back up ti... so they need a game not only a little better than GTA but something a lot better GTA to think in compete with it.

I don't know... I think Ubisoft faced the fact they will be crushed if released just a little better game than GTA for the next-gen plataform.

Better that than pulling an AC3.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

Maybe this has to do with the WIIU version lagging way behind the others or maybe they need more time to get the XB1 up to 1080 or maybe they needed to add more variety or more small things to flesh out the world like GTAV did.

I think, for the end result of the game, more time means better quality in the end, but a videogame is not only quality, it's hype (as superficial as it sounds), and in that regard, ubisoft has killed it, pissing off a lot of people, that will reject the game now, because they will want to feel compensated beacuse of it, and they'll will looke elsewhere trying to forget this frustation.
