There's a few point I'd like to be skeptical about.

1. Kinect will secretly gather data about you

Can't really count on that, can you. It's pretty hard to fight legislation if it says data must be gathered. I don't remember any details about how it is right now, but it could definitely change. The possibility is there, no matter what they say, as long as the Kinect is plugged in.

2. Xbox One can't do "true 1080p gaming"

By that argument even the PS3 was a true 1080p console because Ridge Racer 7 ran in 1080p. I'm not saying the Xbox One isn't going to be a 1080p console, I'm just saying the argument used here doesn't work.

5. Microsoft will sneakily bring back Xbox One's DRM

Trust me, they are looking for ways to reintroduce it in some manner. Slowly but surely they WILL do it eventually. Maybe they won't bring back DRM in the form it was supposed to be in the Xbox One but they will think of something. Online passes and other forms of DRM weren't introduced until later in the 7th gen either, I don't see why something similar couldn't happen during the 8th gen.

6. There are manufacturing problems

Look, here's a picture of an Xbox One fresh off the production line. You can add that to the below video of live human beings interacting with the console in our own offices, and to Microsoft's repeated assurances that it won't struggle to meet target shipments for Xbox One at launch. Rumours of the contrary arose following news of a release delay in certain regions, but Albert Penello says this is a problem of localisation that relates to the complexities of Kinect voice control, not production. "Everybody wants to assume there's a [units volume] issue," he told us in August. "And yet I'm showing real hardware here at Gamescom - a real, final, retail kit.

This one is a real hoot. The answer to manufacturing problems is "Here is a unit fresh off the production line". "Here is real hardware at Gamescon" (which happened weeks before launch...). As if this would prove anything at all.

How about answering two key questions:

1. Why did you cut your country list several times down to basically NA and GB?

2. Why did you buy so many wafers for your initial manufacturing run for the (two?) SoCs? This was reported by multiple industry insiders last december, commenting that 10'000 wafers were ordered with no less than three different manufacturers (the guess was GF, TSMC and a third one). Usually you need a few dozen working SoC for testing. Knowing the die size, why manufacture roughly 1.5mio chips if you have no yield problems? This argument alone reads like a fishing expedition (translation: hope that at least one of the foundries can get some chips to work).

5. I would welcome this if it made the market more like Steam but I doubt this is happen, gamers have spoken and the message is they are not ready, they want more of the same.

Well most of the addressed issues were obviously common sense scenarios. The one thing I found interesting was this tibit:

"It's because it's possible that, in the future, IF WE ADDED BACK some of those family sharing ideas we had in the beginning, we'd have [to] reintroduce similar types of policies. So IF you wanted to have a game and have that family sharing, always-in-the-cloud, and digital loaning - then we might add those requirements back. You can imagine a world where we have both types of models at the same time.""

This is what they should have done from the get-go. Give you a choice if you want to opt into the DRM thing 24 hour check with all the benefits or allow you to opt out and go with the status quo (not hooking up to the internet at all would result in the system defaulting to the status quo mode). Only allowing one or the other was the biggest mistake IMO, hopefully they do bring it back and allow you to pick which type of system you want.



2. Xbox One can't do "true 1080p gaming"

A response to CBOAT?



1,3,5,6, and 8 are either true, inevitable, or strong possibilities.

The argument for #2 is just odd and irrelevant to what has actually been stated about the Xbone's (and PS4's) 1080P capabilities.
