Tales of Legendia is a superior game in most respects, however, its storyline is very weak, and its characters are uninteresting, while the battle system is cliched and limited.

That's actually the opposite. Legendia doesn't hvave the best storyline but it has one of the more entertaining and interesting casts in the series. I wouldn't really call the battle system "cliche" since there's no other kind of Tales battle system besides, you know, other Tales games. >_> Okay, so there's a few knock-offs out there but I wouldn't really consider he original series the cliche one in that case.

Legendia's combat is only "limited" if you came off of a Symphonia high and have no experience with the rest of the actual series, in most respects it's more traditionalist for a Tales battle system while throwing in a few things to shake it up, some of which seemed to have stuck in other Tales games.
