You have the list form 1913 to 2013.

If we asked you what a zip and the PlayStation 4 have in common, would you know? No? Well, according to a survey of 3,900 gadget fans commissioned by Gadget Show Live @ Christmas, they are two of the most influential gadget launches of the last 100 years. In fact, they top and tail the list, with the zip launching in 1913 and the PlayStation 4 due for release in November this year.

It was the Gadget Show Live @ Christmas that made the list... not only Gamasutra.

It is a UK study, I think. The idea is that these items are one that have defined the year in terms of influence as gadgets. Only 1 per year. Look over the full list is about right I think. Take this year for example, I can't think of any gadget that has had as much influence just by news as the PS4 has had. It's weird for it to be on there mind you. But I can't think of any other devices from this year that have stood out.

Lets take it this way, Dr Dre Beats sound technology spurned a string of replicas and made big 'waves' in the business when they came out. For the PS4, it's simple approach has change the Xbox One, if that isn't influential...

My confusion is to why Wii isn't on the list for 2006 considering it's populatity.
