Forums - Sales - Will Gran Turismo 5 outsell Halo 3 (lifetime sales)?

Which game will sell more lifetime globally?

Gran Turismo 5 145 63.04%

Halo 3 85 36.96%

Total:230

Yes. GT4 still sells after 8 years and arrivial of GT5. I say GT5 will sell until 2018.

GT5 will not pass Halo 3 at retail, any chance it had at coming close (within 500K) has gone because GT6 will drastically cut its legs. Also we don't know how much Halo 3 sold digitally, I bet it's a lot, could even reach 13m retail + digital combined?

Uhm no. Halo 3 still sold after ODST, Reach and 4. GT5 will not suddenly stop selling because GT6 is coming out. GT4 is still selling too.

Lol at the results, very objectives :)

With GT6 coming out; I do not see this possible.
The big difference between Halo 3 and GT5 is that when a new version comes out it is still relevant to buy Halo 3 for the story for instance; it is not really the case for GT5 imo

GT5 will be lucky to get over 5 million LT, dudes.

Do you mean GT6 or what? oO Btw some said the same about GT5 and we all know how it ended. ;)

Show me who said GT5 wouldn't reach 5 million. Nobody can say that and is serious.

Of course people said that. There were predictions from 4-6 million from a handful of idiots. Don't underestimate people. Only crazy Sony fanboys thought it would reach 10 million.

Don't exaggerate. It's Sonys best exclusive.

Huh? Whos exaggerating what? Best exclusive? you mean seller? who said otherwise?

Yeah, some people tried to downplay GT's strength big time before release.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

You didn't understand my argument.

I didn't claim Halo games were never bundled, so what you posted is irrelevant. My point was no single Halo title was bundled as heavily as GT5. Which is accurate. There were different GT5 bundles for years.

This is the most recent one I recall... http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/07/ps3-500gb-legacy-bundle-unveiled-includes-gt5-xl-infamous-2/

Try not to be so touchy.

The Halo 3 and Fable 2 bundle was a $400. That was when there were 3 models to choose from (Core, Pro, Elite). Hence, people were paying $100 extra for those games and a larger hard drive.

That ODST bundle was an Elite model and it was about $400 as well and only released in Europe. Hence, people were once again paying extra for those games. Buying the Core or Pro models would were cheaper.

GT5 was still bundled more and with cheaper console bundles.

Probably true but exactly how many more bundles did Gran Turismo 5 get compared to Halo 3? and could you seperate them by region?

You're making that request because you know I can't find that exact information. Neither could VGChartz. All we know for certain is GT has bundled in Europe and NA many times over and even recently.

Here's something note worthy. GT5 saw a massive boost on the holidays of 2012, it was even bigger than the 2011 holiday. That is the same time a GT5 bundle launched. That gives you an idea how much bundles helped this game and kept YoY numbers so high.

Well, halo 3 is going to be free on demand this month... So... Pretty much every 360 owner with xbox libe is going to have a copy lf halo 3.

That will pretty much kill halo 3 retail sales, but If you are looking at copies of the game owned both digitally and physically halo 3 will always have more.
