Forums - Gaming - Why doesn't Crytek have "Crysis HD triple pack" ready for next gen consoles?

What this would be is PC perfect (or at least close) HD versions of Crysis 1, Crysis Warhead, Crysis 2, and Crysis 3 for next gen consoles...all on one disk and probably priced at $40 or some discount price.

1, Warhead, and 2 actually shouldn't be too hard for the next gen consoles to replicate at 30 FPS 1080P max or near max settings  judging by PC benchmarks. Crysis 3 might be a little more difficult, but you could still get close, maybe high settings instead of very high.

These games are already done on PC. Presumably porting wouldn't be too difficult.

I dunno, it's just something I thought would be cool for a while. Not happening though.

They would be selling to the same customer base who have likely already purchased the games for last gen.

It would not be the easiest porting process in the world, though it would be presumably easier than say the will or wii U. Porting will cost money.

Can they make enough in sales to justify this versus assigning the manpower to new IP that will have a better ROI? It is not always about cost of porting versus return, opportunity cost is always considered in the corporate world.

900p 30fps?

because the games are lame and no-one would buy them?

Propably because the whole series suck.

Because there is only 1.5 games in the series worth playing?

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

Porting 4 games and sell them for $40 ?

Doesn't sound like a good deal for Crytek.

And only for a few minuits to check framerates! :P
I kid.

I actually rather enjoyed the entire Crysis trilogy, was a good time waster that's for sure, just remember to leave the brain turned off.

I don't think porting costs would be that high considering they already have Cryengine3 working on X1 and almost certainly have a version in-house that works on PS4. The art assets are also already present from the ultra versions on PC.

It would have to make business sense for EA to do this though.

Heh.

Looking at PC benchmarks even assuming X1 has a HD7770 equivilant GPU (it's probably somewhat better), I think you can do 1080P 30 FPS (all that's needed for campaign anyway) at high to very high settings. Especially when you consider consoles are way more efficient.

As I said Crysis 3 is the most demanding, it might have to run at less than highest settings, but still high. Crysis 1, Warhead, and 2 should be no problem on a HD7770.

Granted this is at 1680X, and I believe there is an "Enthusiast" quality setting above gamer, but still, 57 FPS is plenty of headroom above our target 30, and again this assumes no console optimization at all.

Crysis 2 is about as demanding as 1/Warhead.
