Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft to unlock more GPU power for Xbox One developers

That perfect balance...no more.

Who cares about power at this point. It is almost proven that the weakest hardware for some strange reason always win this console generations xD.

We still have a long way to go until this gen is over. I think we could see the Wii U winning!

So there are chances for Vita too

Devs may not even need the 10% of reserved GPU power as they become more familiar with the system, so this sounds like a lengthy explanation of a non-issue. Or it's a means to keep the gap small between multiplat games in the initial years of the Xbox One.

They need... right now every bit of GFLOPS that MS can release for developer is welcome... the system is weak so even a 6% increase in clock make a difference.

The difference today is 1.18TF vs. 1.84TF.

That's big... people says specs doesn't matter but no developer can make 1.18TF run better than 1.84TF.

This article just shows all the issues with MS system... low RAW power, low ROPs, less ACE/Queue, Kinect/OS holding game performance, etc.

Good point. In that case, this isn't a lengthy explanation of a non-issue, it's a lengthy explanation for poor design choices.

Its interesting that no one on GAF trust this guy because if you read the stuff he has reported, he leaves the opinion part out and just give the details or ask the questions.  This article is a prime example.  No opinion parts really, just questions and letting the engineers tell their story.  I find the article a very interesting read since it gives a good understanding of MS design decisions.

MS articles = PR news, he just wrote what MS wants (no opinion)
Sony articles = He put his opinion saying this is bad everytime

That's the difference.

Remember the Vita is more powerful... so no... xD. Kidding! I just think it's a strange coincidence. This gen anything can happen

Another good part of the article...

MS says the memory bandwidth limit the ROPs... so if they have 24 or 32 ROPs they will need more bandwidth and DDR3 (even with the help of 32MB eSRAM) didn't give you that.

That's makes the GDDR5 + 32 ROPs a reasonble choice... even if at the end games didn't use all the 32 ROPs but can be sure over 20 ROPs will be used easly and the bandwidth won't limit that.

Being 30 million behind 3DS already I seriously doubt it. Especially with things like Vita TV coming out and confusing the average consumer. Accoring to many these people are so confused by the U in Wii U they dont know what to do. I dont see how vita and Vita TV arent going to cause the same issues
